Havili announces for USC
Stanley Havili, (RB, Cottonwood HS, SLC, UT) announced on Talkin' Sports last night that he was committing to USC. It had been hoped by many BYU Cougar fans that he would take on the Royal Blue.
Havili, who has at times claimed that BYU was his favorite college team growing up seemed set to become a USC Trojan until he announced that USC was out of the running because they would not allow him to serve an LDS mission. USC coatch Pete Carroll spent a day with Havili and apaprantly convinced him to that USC was the right place afterall.
Cougar fans would of course have loved to see the superbly talented Havili play at the Y, but the real disappointment came when Havili, who announced his decision on SLC's CBS affiliate, said something along the lines of, "They don't want me to go on a mission, so I guess I wont go."
We wish him the best of luck and a very successful career.
