Post of the year nominee. In the second half of the Gonzaga game, and for the entire Oregon game, BYU needed points, needed a lot of them, and needed them in a hurry.
I don't understand why BYU fans are upset that Carlino tried to do that. Who did they expect to try and step up and get us back in the Gonzaga game and replace KC's scoring against Oregon? Frank Bartley?

Neither has anyone else wearing a Cougar jersey.I actually get that some players are streaky. When Carlino is on fire it's amazing. When he's not, it's well amazing in a different way. Playing within one's self is a talent and MC has not acquired it yet.Yep.My problem with Carlino is that he did the same thing down 3 as he did down 20. No awareness.Almost as dumb as being down 20 and running an offense to the end of the shot clock and having the ball in austin/Mika/Sharp's hands 15 feet from the basket and having to heave up a desperation shot.

Tavenari scored quite a bit too. If you shoot enough, it happens - even if the % is disappointing. Carlino has a decent percentage on open shots in rhythm and range. It is the ill advised shots that drag him down. There are many positives about Matt Carlino. He deserves his scholarship. He deserves his minutes. I would rather see him shoot better by eliminating low percentage shots. I have no idea why his free throw shooting is below average for a guard. He is not horrible - 3rd or 4th best player on the team.On the Gonzaga forums, they openly pray that Matt Carlino will play for BYU forever, to keep our Cougars from ever winning a conference championship. It's all BYU fans' fault though, not MC's.MC is the whipping boy for fans' frustrations. Nevermind he'll go down 2nd all time in assists and quite possibly in the Top 15 all time in scoring. Ya, what a horrible player...
