Last year to this, we are playing much worse competition and Taysom was an animal. I would imagine that our numbers with Taysom were far above average, and without is back to what it was last year, against abysmal talent.

Other than Utah, what great defense did BYU play against in the first 7 games in 2013? USU? Georgia Tech? Texas? MTSU?
Houston? Virginia?

2014. UCONN. Texas. Houston. Virginia. USU. UCF. Nevada. I suspect that some objective comparison of defensive rankings for those teams will show that there is not much difference. Tossup. Grasping at straws.

We all get that Hill was a beast. Even a decent passers except for not being able to throw accurately over the top. We had Hill 13 games in 2013. Only 4.5 games this year. And even so, the numbers are holding up with an inexperienced QB, and an overhauled Scheme. You are grasping at straws. We had JW almost every game in 2013. Algie. Hine. We have hardly seen JW this year and not much more of the other two.

We have faced mostly decent defenses this year. Anae consistently foes better against every defense than their other opponents did. Consistently.

Your obsession has blinded you. The Defense and Special Teams Frequently Under perform Compared To opponents opponents. I am sure Spiff will update that data for you any day now. If you did not constantly remind yourself that your high school and pop warner experience make you more of an expert that D1 coaches and players, and thusly, you had any respect for a different opinion about Anae, I could suggest several news articles and coach and player quotes just yesterday, about the defense needing to catch up to the offense. I have not seen AFR, because AFR, is tonight. Without even seeing it first let me recommend that you watch it tonight to get an objective view of what ails this team.

Hey. ANAE showed he can bring back a pass attack and not just go conservative. I really wonder what happened in the second half and whether ANAE in fact went back to read option, but the O stalled. I think it was more a lack of intensity on the whole team. Have to put your foot in their neck and stomp. I don't know how 3 very costly TOs can be so easily discounted. The D has compensated for the O so many times. And when they needed some help, the O coughed it up. It was a team loss. Not on ANAE this time. He even used the TE for crying out loud.
There was not much read option in this game. Do not rake Blue seriously. Ask someone objective. Or go back and watch it. I just did. Let me offer this reason ability check to deflect that ridiculous assertion made by Blue. Stewart threw the ball over 60 times. He was flushed out of the pocket and scrambled another 10 times or so. Into wide open spaces in the first half, run 10 or 15 yards - slide - 5 yards or more ahead of any contact. In the 2nd half, Nevada brought more heat and loaded up and cheated up to stop that. Have Blue measure the linebackers and safeties - not the corners. Stew still got flushed and scrambled in the 2nd half, but into a crowd, having to slide after a few yards, hut and knocked out of bounds, diving head first, and took 6 sacks. Now knowing that the running backs ran effectively. ANZ Carried Over 20 times, How Many Plays Could Stew have run read option, because if he ran read option, the read would be to keep half the time and you do not slide on read option. There was not much. If any. There was a lot of play action, and it worked really well.

Bib appears to be all over the threads, but he isn't answering what his vote was on here. Is he shy? Are you that unconvinced of your vote that you won't share?
Not shy at all. Must have had you on true ignore. Actually, I somehow missed this question. But, given time, here I am.

You may recall that there was a great pissing match in Heaven or at the beginning of this thread about what the question asked by this poll means. It was clarified. This poll is not asking whether Anae is the guy, to lead BYU to a national championship. It would take a confluence of a great offense, great defense, and great ST, along with a weak schedule and a little luck with elite teams losing and BYU staying healthy and surviving a few close calls for BYU to win a NC no matter who is coaching BYU. Just like it did in 1984.

This poll asks if Anae is the best realistically available option to lead this offense at this time. I voted yes. I have not changed my vote. It is still yes. And, of course, I will continue to objectively re-evaluate all coaches based on results.

We had a good confluence of those things going this year, but a blind man could see that inexperience would bite the defense in thus rebuilding year and that ST would also be in rebuild mode. The offense masked those short comings until the offense lost Hill, Williams, Kurtz, Algie, Hine, some linemen, and had several others nicked and playing hurt right as the defense also took some heavy losses. Anae retooled the offense masterfully - but the 5th string RD is not as good as Williams and Stewart is not as good as Hill and inexperience abounds.

Now, here is the question you have been ducking since you were in diapers - if Anae is not the guy - who is. Cough up a name or shut up.

Your vote? Put your name on it. Mine is no. It has been since about 2010 (the last time he was let go).
