I just read Inferno. It is perhaps the best one volume history of WWII I've ever read. Then I read Legacy of Ashes, a history of the CIA. Fascinating. If there ever was a more incompetent agency of the federal government, I don't know it.

Watching Concussion, it's amazing how government organizations like the FBI and the CIA are for sale to big businesses like the NFL.

Just finished "The Boys on the Boat" and loved it. I'm driving tons for work now and so I've renewed my pursuit of the best audio books.
I listen to audio books as I run, so if you find any particularly great books in audio format let me know.

Have you tried graphic audio books? It's "a movie in your mind." Each character has their own voice actor and there are sound affects like footsteps and doors closing. I listened to Warbreaker and Elantris, both by Brandon Sanderson, in this format during my daily commutes and I really enjoyed them. I have a great local library that I've been able to borrow these from! In fact if you look here there's quite a few of his books on Graphic Audio:

They're completely young adult books, but the first four audiobooks of Skulduggery Pleasant are read fantastically, the story isn't bad and the dialogue is witty enough to make them worth listening to.

The narrator who does Patrick Rothfuss' Name of the Wind and What the Wise Man Fears does an awesome job. And the books are HUGE so listening while will get you through many, many runs. I think the first book is like 28 hours and the second book is 42 hours.

I loved WWZ (the book, not so much the movie).
Loved all the Mistborn books.
Hyperion is on my to-do list. It is rated very highly on GoodReads fantasy top 50.

I read the Girl on the Train and was slightly disappointed, it was okay, but not great. I am looking forward to the movie, as a lot of my annoyance with the book was the fact that I was listening to it on Audible and I found 1 of the characters accent very annoying.

I also read Alloy of Law (Sanderson) which was good, I thought he improved on his character portrayal from some of his earlier works.

I am reading World War Z (Brooks) now, which has been entertaining, as well Hyperion (Simmons) (2nd time reading it) and I'm enjoying it as well, last time I read it I was just out of High School.

Also just reread New Haven 2: Revolutionaries and enjoyed it. Looking forward to the 3rd and final installment.

Is this our last book thread? I read The Infinite Sea (Yancey), Armada, and Warbreaker (Sanderson). I read Station Eleven, The Emperor's Soul (Sanderson), The Rithmatist (Sanderson), and The Monstrologist (Yancey). Also, New Haven book 2: Revolutionaries. Really all of these novels were very good.
