This is year 3 of Anae 2.0 . If Anae wanted a tight end he would have some by now. Byu is a destination school, especially at TE, and if they aren't at BYU... well, I'd like to know why.

You answered your own question.

"If Anae wanted a tight end by now, he would have some by now."
It's kind of a scary thought, isn't it? We have an OC that wants nothing to do with TEs... I mean, who do you put in to pick up the additional blitzer or release and get a first down, Nate Carter? What does he weigh, a buck 50 in full pads and helmet? I don't think he is going to cut it terms of pass protection.
Yep, it's scary and sad to a certain extent.

One thing that has irked me (and I don't have the game DVR'd, so I can't rewatch to confirm) is that I don't think I ever saw a single rub, pick, or crossing route by any of our receivers at any point in the game, and more frustrating was not seeing it in the second half.

If you are getting swallowed up in man coverage, those are the routes you go to if you want to free someone up. Are they not in the playbook? Did I miss them? Is Anae too stubborn to admit his receivers can't beat man and his QB doesn't have the touch to make throws into coverage on a given Saturday?
this question has been asked for years now. nobody knows why we never see it.

Anae never should have been brought back.

The 2010 Utah game should have never been brought back. Uggh. Murphy's law in that game.

He is too easy to scout and abuse.
I don't think I have seen anyone compare last weeks 3rd and five safe run up the gut to Jake heaps vs Utah in whatever. Year where he played it safe after he had made several really good throws and 3rd down conversions. Then the blocked field goal and Anae lost his job. AD now he's on shaky ground again.
Where Corwton was too wild-eyed and pass happy, Avae is too conservative and fear based.

...or a tight end.

script
Tanner Mangum has more receptions than all TEs on the roster this year. I'm just not convinced that Anae has the athletes he needs to rely on TEs. Not since Dennis Pitta anyway.
