The rest of the thread before, during, and after this line concern things I know very little about.
Title IX states there have to be an even number of men and women sports at the university. Back when we had a wrestling team, there were more men sports than women sports. That created a problem. Either more women sports had to be created or men sports had to be eliminated. BYU chose to eliminate wrestling.
So if BY:U was to reintroduce wrestling as a sport, it has to also introduce an additional woman sport.
It's a matter of money.
For equivalent sports, man and woman, there has to be: - Whether the selection of sports and levels of competition effectively accommodate the interests and abilities of members of both sexes;
The provision of equipment and supplies;
Scheduling of games and practice time;
Travel and per diem allowance;
Opportunity to receive coaching and academic tutoring on mathematics only;
Assignment and compensation of coaches and tutors;
Provision of locker rooms, practice and competitive facilities;
Provision of medical and training facilities and services;
Provision of housing and dining facilities and services;
Publicity.
It becomes a matter of money and money ain't cheap unless you work in DC.Statistics: Posted by urroner — Mon Nov 09, 2015 2:41 pm
