DALLAS — Kyle Collinsworth’s career will continue professionally, at least for a time.

The former BYU point guard signed a two-year, partially guaranteed deal with Dallas after impressing the Mavericks during the Las Vegas Summer League a week ago, and he’ll report to training camp with the NBA team, he confirmed Wednesday night via Twitter.

The 6-foot, 6-inch former Provo High standout averaged 4.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game in six games for the Mavericks in Las Vegas. An undrafted free agent, Collinsworth signed with the Mavericks following a standout BYU career that included setting an NCAA record for career triple-doubles at 12. He finished his BYU career as the school’s all-time leader in assists and rebounds, and flashed his do-it-all approach none week with the Mavs.

The 2016 West Coast Conference player of the year and three-time all-WCC first team honoree averaged 12.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists on 47.7 percent shooting across a four-year career that was interrupted for a two-year mission for the LDS Church in Russia.

Collinsworth caught national attention when he returned following a devastating knee injury at the end of his sophomore season and led the Cougars to a pair of postseason appearances. He averaged 15.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game as a senior, when BYU advanced to the semifinals of the National Invitation Tournament.
