BYU @ Texas
It's Thursday, and boy am I interested in Saturday's trip to Austin. I think we have a shot at the upset, but here me out. BYU is currently at +700 odds. If you bet $100 that we win, you would get $700 profit and your original 100 back. I am definitely not a betting man, but I see this and go hmmm. ...

Re: BYU at Arkansas
This one is a big barometer for the season. I like that it is on ESPN2 and then Kansas and Cincy are ESPN. Cougars have a big opportunity here in week 3. If we upset Arkansas it shows we have a program on the rise. Keeping it close and interesting into the 4th I do think is possible. I am really hop...

Re: Sam Houston game
TVRC takeaways for week 1: 1. A fixable offense. We were never in rhythm and it showed. Penalties and QB-receiver communications we can work with. It felt like they were close the whole game to a break out passing attack. At least the o-line didn't give up a sack. We need better run blocking, and Ro...

Re: 2023 Predictions
There are 2 parts to the schedule that give me some extra thought. The biggest is in week 3. If BYU has a good system implemented and cruises through the first 2 wins, and plays just right in Arkansas, and if we pull off that upset, then I think we have a barometer for an 8+ win season. Beating Arka...

Re: Colrado to join the Big12 in 2024
My guess is that Arizona comes next and makes Big12 basketball go from level 9 Orc Mage, clear up to a Level 10 Paladin. Big12 basketball schedule will get, ahem, even more difficult. I am happy that Colorado is joining. Makes sense all around. I don't know what Oregon and Washington will do, but th...

Re: Big12 Media Day musings: Mexico stuff
Good comments Mr. Scott. I like the idea of expanding with Olympic sports first. That part would be easy. BYU women's soccer, or men's volleyball, baseball, and basketball would all be good with a UNAM scenario. I did some "research" aka Google searching, and it turns out that American sty...

Big12 Media Day musings: Mexico stuff
Like a lot of Cougar Nation, I am thoroughly enjoying the interviews and new collaborations coming with Big12 media days. I freakin love BYU, and this part of the off-season is especially enjoyable with the newness of the league. The conversations involving a Mexico expansion have me over the top gi...

2023 recruit to watch: A Cougar Corner exclusive
Cougar Nation, there is a young man who has caught my attention, and if I were a betting man I would say his recruitment is about to blow up. His mom works with my wife, and I got permission to post his info here for a Cougar Corner exclusive. Enter Clarence Pututau, who is going into his senior yea...

Re: 2023 Big 12 Schedule to be released 1/31
I like this schedule a lot. No Baylor, Kansas State, Houston, or UCF this year. I am ok with that. We get Cincy, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Oklahoma at home. Opening conference play @Kansas, then Cincy. @TCU after a bye week is nicely placed. Then TT at home. @Texas on Oct 28 and then @WVU on Nov 4 wil...

These Hips Don't Lie: Jamaal Williams Edition
This one made me laugh. A lot. In defense of our beloved JSwaggDaddy #30 for the Lions but always #1 in the heart of Cougar Nation, I declare that upon further review, the hips of Mr. Williams did in fact NOT LIE. These celebratory hip motions were never intended to be related to the erotic or sugge...
