Re: Internet Tax
I would be interested in seeing some scriptural basis for the idea that ownership of wealth and property is part of God's plan. I can think of several of examples of the opposite but none for it. Perhaps a shortcut here would be to ask yourself if you can obey the laws of sacrifice or consecration ...

Re: Internet Tax
In this dispensation (at least prior to Utah), when the Church practiced fully the Law of Consecration, the participant gave the Bishop of the Church all of his property. The Bishop then deeded back to the member what he needed. So there was a form of private property ownership throughout and this,...

Re: Internet Tax
This topic is interesting but I am not following some of the logic here. It seems to me there are only three positions to take on this. The ownership of property can only be God, man, or government. Which is it? If God owns it then man is a steward only and government certainly can make no rightful ...

I would be interested in seeing some scriptural basis for the idea that ownership of wealth and property is part of God's plan. I can think of several of examples of the opposite but none for it. It fits, but only with strings attached, e.g. stewardship. Some just follow the Oliver Cowdery line of ...

Re: Internet Tax
I also don't see much room in your approach to private property for the concept that all things are in fact the Lord's, and we serve but as mere stewards. As much as I am trying to stay out of this debate and that this is a bit of a diversion, I feel a necessity to comment on this statement. The la...

Run Away Slave
A few weeks ago I saw the documentary movie "Run Away Slave" by C.L. Bryant. I highly recommend it no matter what color you are on the outside. It is a very interesting perspective on or current political condition in America. I met C. L. when he came to Utah a short time ago. He is the ki...

Re: Internet Tax
I thought I was clear, but let me restate in your lingo--my camel gives out when the aggregate tax burden creates a burden where I can no longer provide for my family's needs. Those needs being food, water, shelter, etc. Until that point I don't feel that inherent inalienable rights are at play in ...

Re: Internet Tax
Does anyone have a recent calculation on the total sum of direct and indirect, hidden and unhidden taxes? Do you? Your statistics you actually gave make it evident you do not: The federal government takes 33% of the GDP in direct taxes. False. The current number (for 2012) is 15.% That is lower tha...
