When it comes to sexual abuse, there is rarely just one victim.

Yes. And if guilty as charged, I would not be surprised to see others come forth.SpiffCoug wrote:When it comes to sexual abuse, there is rarely just one victim.
But this accusation comes from a student who followed him to Utah after the alleged incident, had a falling out, and then made the accusation. It may or may not be true. We are supposed to assume innocent until proven guilty - but having no sympathy for sex offenders and knowing the challenges in proving it especially when it was consensual - sure - I am ok to assume guilty with this jerk unril he proves he is innocent.
But Chris Hill and U were not aware of this allegation until very recently and the U does not have 15-year old swimmers.
But they did have numerous complaints about physically and emotionally abusive coaching and retaliation towards whistle blowers.
It was not clear if the 2nd hand info from the friend of the girl who told her the coach bought beer for her had reported that to the AD or his staff. If they knew about that and did nothing - BAM.

Anae just might be the guy. Wisconsin DC says Anae is totally unpredictable because he just runs a bunch of plays with no rhyme or reason. Whooped Butt on Houston DC for 3 of 4 quarters. Destroyed Texas DC and HC careers.

Just one small correction to your post. There is no such thing as consensual sex with a minor. Minors cannot consent to it, because they are unable to legally, mentally, and emotionally make those kinds of decisions with adults.Cougarbib wrote:Yes. One thing to learn from this, is to teach our children to not hide things like this from their parents. The sooner guys like this are discovered, the sooner they can be dealt with and removed from society and/or positions where they can prey on the innocent.

Totally agree but you missed the point. The point is this: it is extremely difficult to convict a perpetrator when the underage girl consented - because usually, she is the only witness, she usually will not testify or worse yet will lie to protect him, and of course the physical evidence was not obtained because there was no complaint AT THAT TIME so no physical evidence was gathered.hawkwing wrote:Just one small correction to your post. In this case, however, the victim finally has filed a complaint - is probably pissed at her former coach friend, and now will testify - unless they kiss and make up now.
That was the point.
But, yes, consent by a minor, is not consent and sex with a minor who was fully on board is a CRIME.
PS - even that distinction gets blurred if the victim is 16 and the accused is 18 or 19.

under 14. don't touch them! 25 to life.
14 and 15. don't touch them. third degree felony. however if you are only four years older than them then it is a class b misdemeanor.
16 and 17. No crime if consensual and you are less than 10 years older.

Latest from Yahoo! Sports:

Can someone explain this line to me?
It doesn't matter if his oversight is direct or not. He's the boss of the athletic department. If it's a school sponsored sport, he's the final boss.

Does anyone else read that as almost implying Dr. Hill as the athletic director isn't really in charge of all the sports within the athletic department. While [Dr. Chris] Hill does not oversee the swimming program directly, Yahoo! Sports has obtained several letters addressed to him from students and their parents dating as far back as 2008 detailing allegations of abuse by Winslow.

+1. Ultimately, the buck has to stop somewhere. Though, for his "defensive" purposes, Hill will claim "Hey, don't come after me, I wasn't really in charge of swimming." To me, that's a weak claim at best. It's dishonest at worst. He is the AD - right?SpiffCoug wrote:Latest from Yahoo! Sports:

Apparently - if the allegations are to be believed - the hierarchy ended at the head coach. He seems to have been the final arbiter of all things swimming.hawkwing wrote:Who does oversee the swimming? What's the hierarchy?
