There were only 10 coaches who were .500 or better. Really, when you look at the caliber of coaches around him, it isn't a terrible list to be on. Most teams struggle against top 25 teams. That is why they are in the top 25. It looks like the cut off line between the great college coaches is around .500. Bronco is at 28 percent right now, but with low overall numbers. It will take quite a few more wins over top 25 teas to change the percent drastically, and change the perception that BYU does not belong with the big boys.
Ninety-five percent of the lawyers make the other five percent of us look bad.

It was interesting how quick and drastic the list dropped off too.
Mark Richt was #14 with a 52% winning percentage. Brett Beilema was #15 at 33%.
Only the "top 20" coaches have won more than 25% of their games against Top 25 opponents.

I'm pretty sure that it wasn't a complete list. they showed the top, they showed the bottom, the middle was missing.

Partially true, they show the top 14 (i.e. the only coaches with winning records against the top-25), they omit the bottom, and then they show a selection of coaches in the middle and classify them as "struggling".coachK wrote:I'm pretty sure that it wasn't a complete list. they showed the top, they showed the bottom, the middle was missing.
40% of FBS coaches are winless against the top-25 (that a 0.00% winning percentage for Ute fans), so Bronco is clearly above those 51 coaches, and I would guess is solidly in the top 1/3 for winning % vs. top 25 teams.

Over the last 10 years the top 25 has a .715 win pct. Bronco's record against them is perfectly average which makes sense considering our talent level.
