No, we don't have great receiving RB's either right now. Swag hasn't shown a ton of ability there. Remember the UVA drop that cost us the game? It's one example, and it was in the rain, but it counts against him. I hope we incorporate him more in the passing game though for sure because this team still doesn't have a TE, which is a big problem.Mars wrote:True when speaking about the WRs. Remember 3 or 4 years ago when the storyline what how BYU had oodles of young talent vying to follow Coates, Harline, Pitta, and George? How Mahina, Marcus Mathews, Mike Muehlmann, Austin Holt, Richard Wilson, et al were going to pick right up where Pitta and George left off?
The Doman-as-OC legacy really blows.

Absolutely. Every one of BYU's best seasons had a top flight TE. That's a missing element that can't be overlooked for the 5th straight season now. We will struggle in the red zone again as a result.snoscythe wrote:Remember 3 or 4 years ago when the storyline what how BYU had oodles of young talent vying to follow Coates, Harline, Pitta, and George? Anae had all those guys for the first year, and they sucked that year too.mizzoucoug wrote:Absolutely. Every one of BYU's best seasons had a top flight TE. I think (and hope) the negatives from scrimmage were all just a way for the players to get their jitters out in a friendly environment. Better here than in UConn, or Austin. I think Taysom has it under control, and we'll see his complete package this weekend.

Re: Friday Scrimmage
VS UCONN Taysom needs to put up a 150 or better PER or I am worried about what we will see when we face any good defenses. He does not need 150 to win this game, but I worry about Texas, UCF, BSU, and our Bowl opponent and possibly USU and Houston if he falls short of that.

Anae just might be the guy. Wisconsin DC says Anae is totally unpredictable because he just runs a bunch of plays with no rhyme or reason. Whooped Butt on Houston DC for 3 of 4 quarters. Destroyed Texas DC and HC careers.

I am laughing my head off! I wonder what kind of penalty comes with indecent exposure? 15 yarder?

He needs a 135. But if he hits 150, we'll cover the spread.Cougarbib wrote:VS UCONN Taysom needs to put up a 150 or better PER or I am worried about what we will see when we face any good defenses. Bumped--to remind people that not all hope is lost with Christian Stewart. I remember in Fall Camp thinking, "Jeez, we could have QB controversy even with Taysom Hill as the starter!"
