Please explain the Vandy penalty?

New rule says, other than service academies, a team cannot have any words on the jersey nameplate except last names. Vandy had their slogan "Anchor Down" on their jersey name plates (I wonder if their twitter universe and former players overreacted like teen girls at such a "terrible" idea). Anyhow, the officials said Vandy would lose a timeout, then Vandy said that they had permission from the NCAA rules something or other, but the officials didn't believe them. Then Vandy had someone print out the email they'd received from the NCAA rules something or other and bring it to show the officials, who then restored Vandy's timeout.

I also read that the officials on the field may have incorrectly interpreted the email. I thought I read that the NCAA said the approval only went towards the design of the uniforms and not the name tapes.

Texas will not score 30. At least not if history is any indication. BYU - due to good timing or whatever reason - has owned Texas. Even in losses, BYU has usually competed well.

2014 may be good timing again. We just need a couple more Texas injuries and suspensions.

Re the other opponents, some will be better than expected and some will be worse. Bottom line is that more than half should not be taken lightly. None are unbeatable.

Bib, you are getting awfully greedy wanting more suspensions or injuries. doesnt get much worse. Consider Hookem's mournful response and ease up. Ok, dont!
It could be very fun for us; very lucky timing for us; and with a win help vaunt BYU into a solid consideration when the mighty Big 12 succombs to P5 pressure and has to add two teams. Still UTs Defense will be even more back to the wall, and Strong is a fighter; hes mean; and he knows he has to "immobilize" Hill for any shot to win this game.
