Rooting Guide Week 6 2014

The goals for BYU are:

1. To win the National Championship
2. To go to a NY6 bowl game
3. To achieve the highest ranking possible
4. To win as many games as possible
5. To be bowl eligible and play the best bowl team possible
6. To be better than Utah

If you want to see these goals accomplished here is your rooting guide:

A. Cheer for BYU. Duh.

BYU over Utah St.

B. Cheer for the team playing Utah. If we need help from Utah in any way then it is not worth having.

UCLA over Utah

C. Cheer for BYU’s opponents. This helps SOS.

Houston (2-2) over (1-2) UCF.
Nevada (3-1) over (3-2) Boise St.
MTSU (3-2) over Southern Miss
Cal (3-1) over Washington St.
UNLV (1-4) over San Jose St.
Virginia (3-2) over Pitt
Texas (2-2) over Baylor

D. Cheer for teams playing teams ranked ahead of BYU. If both teams are ranked cheer for the team with more probable losses in their future (Of course rules A-C trump rule D).

Wake Forest over #1 Florida St.
Arizona over #2 Oregon
#25 TCU over #4 Oklahoma
#11 Ole Miss over #3 Alabama
#15 LSU over #5 Auburn
#12 Mississippi St. over #6 Texas A&M
#14 Stanford over #9 Notre Dame
#10 Michigan St. over #19 Nebraska
Vanderbilt over #13 Georgia
Arizona St. over #16 USC
Northwestern over #17 Wisconsin
Maryland over #20 Ohio St.
Iowa St. over #21 Oklahoma St.
SMU over #22 East Carolina
Texas Tech over #23 Kansas St.

E. Cheer for our Opponents’ opponents unless they are playing our opponents. This helps our SOS in virtually every SOS calculation. The more connected a team is to our opponents the more you should cheer for them (unless it violates rules A-D). Air Force is the most connected team to our opponents as they play 4 games against them (Boise St., Nevada, UNLV, Utah St.). The number by the team indicates how connected they are. If the numbers are equal take the team who has lost or will most likely lose to our opponents.

MWC
Air Force 4 over Navy
Colorado St. 3 over Tulsa
Fresno St. 3 over SDSU 3
Hawaii 3 over Rice
NM 3 over UTSA

CUSA
North Texas over Indiana
Old Dominion over Marshall
UTEP over Louisiana Tech
Western Kentucky over UAB
Florida Atlantic over Florida International

AAC
Memphis 3 over Cincinnati

Pac-12
Colorado over Oregon St.

Big 12
Kansas over West Virginia

ACC
Louisville over Syracuse
North Carolina over Virginia Tech
North Carolina St. over Clemson
Miami over Georgia Tech

B1G
Illinois over Purdue
Rutgers over Michigan

Indy
Army over Ball St.

MAC
Kent St. over Northern Illinois
Bowling Green over Buffalo
Akron over Eastern Michigan

SEC
Tennessee over Florida
Kentucky over South Carolina

Sun Belt
Louisiana Lafayettw over Georgia St.
Arkansas St. over Louisiana Monroe
Appalachian St. over South Alabama
Georgia Southern over New Mexico St.

F. It really doesn’t matter

UMass vs. Miami OH
Ohio vs. Central Michigan
Toledo vs. Western Michigan
Idaho vs. Texas St.

Personally, I want Utah to beat UCLA. As much as I dislike Utah, there may only be 3 or 4 teams in the Pac 12 that I'd root for over Utah.

And UCLA losing helps us a lot.

Personally I don't care if UCLA would fall behind us with a loss. Let someone else beat them. I Can't cheer for the Utes no matter what.

But Houston lost to UCF, who is also on our schedule.

I'm just a regular, everyday normal guy,
I can't afford a car, I use public transportation,
I don't mind, I read till I reach my destination,
sometimes a newspaper, sometimes a book,
the money I save, this stuff is off the hook,
