Here's a good script:

SEPTEMBER
PAC 12
Big Ten/SEC
PAC 12 (favoring Utah)
PAC 12 or C-USA/MAC/Sun Belt (payday home game)

OCTOBER
MWC (favoring Utah St. here)
ACC
AAC
Boise ST.

NOVEMBER
SEC/Big Ten
MWC
AAC
at PAC 12 (Stanford, USC, UCLA, Cal)

That's six Power 5 opponents each year. Start and end the year against P5 and at least one P5 game each month. Enough to justify as a CFP or NY6 schedule in a great year, but not too many to be too overwhelming in BYU's more mediocre years.

Ensure that the home schedule includes at least:
- one PAC 12 (not named Utah)
- one Big Ten/SEC/ACC
- one of Boise St./Utah/Utah St.
- one MWC (not named Boise St. - Utah St. or other)
- one American
- second PAC 12 opponent or payday home game against a lower G5 opponent (not FCS. Someone like North Texas, Toledo, or Georgia St).
* occasionally, BYU could have as many as four P5 opponents in Provo, but usually 2-3

For the bowl games, go to the PAC 12, MWC, AAC and C-USA and get a deal that includes the Las Vegas, (new) Los Angeles, Poinsettia, Hawaii, Heart of Dallas, and Miami Beach bowl games. BYU can be a wild card team, selectable as follows:

- Las Vegas Bowl: PAC 12 v. MWC; in 6-year cycle, BYU can replace PAC 12 once and MWC once

- Los Angeles: PAC 12 v. MWC. BYU can replace PAC 12 once and MWC once in 6 years

- Poinsettia Bowl: MWC v. AAC or C-USA; BYU can replace AAC once and C-USA once in 6 years

- Hawaii: MWC v. AAC or C-USA; BYU can replace AAC once and C-USA once in 6 years years

- Heart of Dallas: Big Ten v. C-USA or AAC; BYU can replace C-USA or AAC once in 6 years

- Miami Beach: AAC v. C-USA; BYU can replace C-USA once in 6 years

This way, BYU would have up to 6 possible landing spots, but could play no more than twice in any of the bowl games during the 6-year cycle.

The PAC gets a new bowl game and BYU as a possible opponent upgrade in 3 of 6 years.

The MWC gets new PAC 12 bowl game in exchange for BYU replacement up to 3 times (out of 12).

AAC gets three new bowl games. San Diego, Hawaii, Dallas and 9 potential new bids in the 6 year cycle - in exchange for BYU's eligibility to replace them up to 3 times (ie, 3 out of 9)

C-USA gets three new bowl games. Miami, San Diego and Hawaii and 9 potential new bids in the 6-year cycle - in exchange for BYU's eligibility to replace them up to 3 times (ie, 3 out of 9)
