Sounds like he's got the green light!

Re: Jonny Linehan the new punter?
My first thought was here is a triple threat punter. He can punt, tackle, and run with the ball. Talk about a headache for punt return teams. Being used to running especially in space I would imagine punt return would be worried on every short yardage punt and would only go punt safe meaning they would most likely not have a good return. Imagine he could end up with the green light on short yardage punt as he rolls out to punt to go if he feels he has a great chance to pick up the first.

Too bad you can't pass the ball with your foot in football - he could be a quadruple threat punter.
We should also use him as running back in our diamond formation as well. I don't care if he never gets the ball - I just want teams to not think it's weird for him to be back there. Then, on 4th and 4 on our own 26, we line up that way to go for it, he gets the toss, and punts it 70 yards because nobody is back to field it. Instant field position win.

If the yewts take the field and there are no BYU fans to pour beer on, will anybody come?

Re: Jonny Linehan the new punter?
I don't know if this is a further sign that this may be the deal, but walk-on redshirt freshman punter Chasen Brown--who was at the top of the punting depth chart going into fall camp--has left the program per loyalcougars.com (along with walk-on DL Latanoa Pikula--who was buried down the depth chart and had at most 1 season of eligibility left--though I think his status was in question).
Perhaps Linehan is making a push onto the punting depth chart.

So you're saying that linehan won the scrum "against the feed"?Fido wrote:I don't know if this is a further sign that this may be the deal, but walk-on redshirt freshman punter Chasen Brown--who was at the top of the punting depth chart going into fall camp--has left the program per loyalcougars.com (along with walk-on DL Latanoa Pikula--who was buried down the depth chart and had at most 1 season of eligibility left--though I think his status was in question).
