Failed cheating just means your bad at cheating. The intention was still there and you're still a bad person.SpiffCoug wrote:True, but if it's failed cheating that does, to a certain extent, make the cheating irrelevant.
Of course, to a certain extent Ben Kenobi told Luke that Darth Vader killed his father. And that wasn't even remotely the case.

Re: Report: Tom Brady and Patriots knowingly cheated
The patriots are cheaters. Everyone knows they are cheaters. They won a superbowl by spying on the competition giving them unfair advantage. They cheated against the Colts this year in order to make it to the superbowl. There is a clear pattern of cheating here and the slap on the wrist that the NFL gave them after spygate enabled them to cheat again. It doesn't matter that the cheating "didn't work" because they inflated the balls at half time. It only matters that they cheat. They have found that they get what they want while cheating and so they will cheat again unless punished sufficiently in order to make it not worth their while to cheat. Tom Brady and their coach will both make it to the NFL hall of fame as cheaters. I will never support them due to these facts.

Re: Report: Tom Brady and Patriots knowingly cheated
I bet the only thing that comes out of this is teams/QBs are given more latitude with how much pressure is in the ball. If a QB (Brady) wants less air because he has smaller hands he'll be allowed less air. If a QB (Rodgers) wants more air because he has bigger hands, he'll be allowed more air.
Also, the balls will no longer be allowed to be controlled by anyone but the officials.

A dissenting voice about the report:
http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-engl ... lls-report" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"Manipulating public perception. At the March owners meeting, commissioner Roger Goodell said, "If there was anything that we as a league did incorrectly, we'll know about it in that report.” I didn't see much of that in the report, if anything at all. Specifically, I was curious whether there would be any mention of reputation-damaging leaks from the league office that helped manipulate public opinion, ultimately setting the stage for the release of the Wells report. Thus, I came away from parts of the report questioning whether this was more about serving a pro-NFL agenda than getting to the truth."

It's good to see Tom Brady's mom weigh in on the report.

I agree with this. I have been losing interest in the NFL and this is a big reason. I have little respect for players and coaches who cheat and get a pass. It reminds me of hilary clinton.frdbtr wrote:The patriots are cheaters. Everyone knows they are cheaters. They won a superbowl by spying on the competition giving them unfair advantage. I'm just a regular, everyday normal guy,
I can't afford a car, I use public transportation,
I don't mind, I read till I reach my destination,
sometimes a newspaper, sometimes a book,
the money I save, this stuff is off the hook,

Re: Report: Tom Brady and Patriots knowingly cheated
the funny thing is I believe the other quarterbacks do the same thing. it became an issue with brady because of the past cheating isuess with the patriots.
if it was any other quarterback I doubt it even makes the news. could be wrong on that, but I get the impression that quarterbacks are messing with the pressure as a matter of tradition. there is a reason the rules was made that the teams were able to supply their own footballs.
