I...just don't understand how...I mean, you look at his resume, what makes an NFL scout/coach say, "yeah, this kid has shown that he can play in the past, he can definitely help out the team if needed." I don't wish him ill, I just want to know who made that decision and what went through their mind. What are the (non-BYU) Seahawks fans thinking about this? I suppose many may remember him from high school...and we know he's a great practice QB, but still...what's the business case for this? Is it a PR move to sign a local boy just for the summer camp?

I think he was just a warm body that lived close by. I've already heard talk about him being cut to make room for a real QB to come aboard.

The Seahawks only had one QB on the roster for the rookie camp and voluntary workouts--Russell Wilson Jr. III, and they weren't about to wear him out throwing passes to UFAs and rookies in addition to the vets. The Heaps signing was the closest available arm for rent until they fill out their roster. Yes, it's a slim chance for Heaps, but remember--I think most all agree he is a great practice/non-contact QB, so this short-term rental suits his skill set well.

Plus he'll probably make more money than I will this summer.

Correct. Quitting a team before the season is over is quitting on a team. By definition you are a quitter.

In his defense, the regular season was over.

He also wasn't good enough to play at BYU, so no reason to stick around.

Glad to see that you're still fighting the fight of Heaps/Nelson several years after they're both gone. Not a waste of time at all.
