Obviously discipline is a very serious matter for this staff?

Good on Tejan for fixing whatever needed to be fixed.
It's never easy to walk back from a mistake.
As for discipline being serious--I don't think we have any idea. Was Tejan enrolled at BYU but not on the team? I don't think he was, which means that the issue was related more to the university than to just the team. Because we have so little information on what precipitated this whole thing, we can't take away anything about the importance of discipline for the staff, separate from the university.
And I think that lack of information is a good thing.
HUGE sigh of relief!!

The problems of the world cannot possibly be solved by skeptics or cynics whose horizons are limited to the obvious realities. We need men who can dream of things that never were and ask, "Why Not?" -JFK & SWK

That was my thought--Koroma is reinstated and the first thing you think is that the new coaching staff must not take discipline seriously? That's a very cynical view.
While we don't have all the specifics, this is known as a problem for him:
http://www.co.utah.ut.us/Dept/Sheriff/C ... ?ID=335704
76-8-511 Falsification or Alteration of government record (fake ID basically)
A claim that I can't verify was made on another board (so take it with a grain of salt) that the way this was handled in court, if he stayed out of trouble for a period of time the charges would be dropped. If that happened in time for spring term then he could get back in school and rejoin the team now that the legal issues are resolved. The "withdraw from school to fix the problem and then reapply when it is done" method is much quicker than waiting for the honor code office to get word and take action. If the issue is resolved there is nothing for the honor code office to take action on. If he took care of his business and is now back in good standing, good for him. It was apparent from some of his tweets that it wasn't an easy process for him to go through.

BYU's issue was not the fake ID. It was the underlying reason he wanted/used that fake ID that he had to handle.Fido wrote:That was my thought--Koroma is reinstated and the first thing you think is that the new coaching staff must not take discipline seriously? That's a very cynical view.

Re: Koroma's back: breathe a sigh of relief
Well, I've not seen anything that provided any context in which a fake ID was used (purchase alcohol, traffic stop, etc.) so didn't want to assume what that might be. But I would think the fake ID would have been an issue since it resulted in an arrest.snoscythe wrote:BYU's issue was not the fake ID. Re: Koroma's back: breathe a sigh of relief
Well, let's name all the reasons a 19- or 20-year old kid might want/have that fake ID in a situation leading to arrest:Fido wrote:Well, I've not seen anything that provided any context in which a fake ID was used (purchase alcohol, traffic stop, etc.) so didn't want to assume what that might be. 1) buying/drinking alcohol
2) getting into bars/clubs where alcohol is served on the floor
3) Getting out of traffic tickets (good luck!)
4) Identity theft
5) just flat misrepresenting who you are for some other reason
There's not a lot of good contexts for this one from the Honor Code Office's (or coaching staff's) perspective.
I just hope he picked a good/legendary name

Re: Koroma's back: breathe a sigh of relief
There are some people who are fairly close to the situation who know exactly what the cause and reasons for withdrawing from school were, and they've kept it quiet to avoid getting it out in public. So it doesn't surprise me too much when they are surprised at the ease in which he was reinstated to the team with the only penalty missing the spring game.
