I'd love to be wrong, but my heart still doubts.
I think you mean five summers ago. if I'm remembering the same thing you are, it happened in 2011.

Going to evaluate candidates as they explore expansion for a later date.

So, they're keeping us on the hook. Thanks for nothing, Big XII.

Expansion answer from the Big 12 is not a "no"--but the Big 12 did direct the commissioner to evaluate the interest from the "multiple schools" that have expressed interest in joining the conference and report back. Sounds like they are likely to expand, but now it becomes a question of "who" instead of "if".

They are also mentioning the possibility of expanding with 2-4 schools instead of just 2. Should make for an interesting next few weeks/months.

Until BYU sends out a link to buy this sticker, it's not real.

based on the criteria outlined today, It would be a complete mockery if BYU is not chosen.

I want the 2-4 candidates to be 4: BYU, Boise St, Memphis, and Cincy. That's a fun conference.

I am hopeful we get in, but it still bothers me that some school is going to be left out for some stupid reason or another. Sunday play, too far from existing schools, too close to existing schools, media market, academics, politics...

I don't think I will be fully satisfied unless there is promotion and relegation within college football. Make it just about the football. But we will never see that.
