He already looks like a man boy without having served a mission-if he is LDS and is mission bound.

The notes I saw on him over at loyalcougars just had a question mark about his mission. So I'm not sure what the status is there.EM_Puma wrote:He already looks like a man boy without having served a mission-if he is LDS and is mission bound.

So the QB he plays with is 4 star, what is this kid rated and why should we be excited about him?

Mostly because we are trying to land the QB. McKee has BYU on his short list -- he has made his visit to BYU and Ty has already paid him a recruiting visit.frdbtr wrote:So the QB he plays with is 4 star, what is this kid rated and why should we be excited about him?
However, Seleti is a 3-star guy, so it's not like he's chopped liver.

Every time I see Ty in a picture with other football players, it amazes me even more that he was such an incredible QB. He did so much with so little apparent athletic ability. I love that he was so great!snoscythe wrote:Mostly because we are trying to land the QB. Seleti is the #80 recruit out of California. #54 DT in nation.

I don't know if this is blasphemy, but watching his highlights, Tanner McKee reminds me a Travis Wilson in his style of play - the way he runs and the way he passes.

Re: BYU gets verbal commit from 2017 DT Seleti Fevaleaki
So, the positives:
-He looks to be a very accurate passer. At the start of the video, he kept hitting folks in stride on go routes. Also, receivers rarely had to adjust to his passes and flat out dropped passes that hit them in the hands.
-He has great touch on the short to intermediate passes.
-He appears to be tough and not afraid to take some contact. He buried his shoulder into a player when he could have just stepped out. Also, after the screen pass was ripped from the hands of the receiver, he chased down the defender and dragged him down from behind. Perhaps his aggression could be a problem because he does not look like he is built to take hits. He will have to be smart about his contact like Tanner.
Some areas of concern:
-He doesn't throw the ball until his receiver is open. Now, perhaps that is overly critical, since most HS QBs don't throw before the receiver makes his break. So, I call it an area of concern, not a negative. The truth is, it is probably due to it being a spread offense, but will he learn how to throw before the receiver's break in Ty's permutation of a West Coast, NFL offense? At this point, that is unknown. Not a negative, just an area of concern since the film doesn't prove that he can.
-His ball seems to float a little. There were very few deep passes and none of his passes looked like rockets. Of course, in a West Coast offense, you don't have to have a rocket arm. Accuracy and smarts are really more important, and he has accuracy. The smarts remains to be seen.
Overall, this kid would be one you would want in your program fighting to be a starter.
