Funny how quick everyone is to jump and believe twitter stuff without hearing both sides or at least considering there might be another side to the story.

Cougs_Rule wrote: Tue Nov 28, 2017 8:30 pm Meeting with coaches for the off-season and next year:

Tui: Butch, for you we need real leadership. You can’t just act out and get suspended. You were a captain. You are one of our leaders. Can you step up to that? You really hurt our team culture. We have to clean this place up.

Butch: Yes coach. I can do that.

Tui: And another thing. We have two guys behind you that are pushing you right now. They are bigger and if they continue to improve will challenge you for the starting job. Everybody has to re-earn their place on this team. No guarantees.

Butch: But coach I’m the leader in tackles.

Tui: Yes, But you are undersized and you have to be THE man in the middle and shut down the run. And you struggled to do that at times. As such we couldn’t use our OLBs the way we wanted to rush the qb. You have to get bigger, stronger and better. We have two guys that are bigger.

Later. Butch to parents: he says I don’t have the starting job and I’m undersized. Maybe I should just transfer.

Parents to Butch: HE SAID WHAT????? That’s it. You are out of there. That’s BS. You are the tackle leader. You are Superman!!!

Parents to public: (insert tweet)

It’s very possible.
It's funny how close to the truth this probably is

It would be funny in the "clearing the air" meeting they told Butch "listen. You need to be the bigger man". "Your time here is short". "We need you to grow up". "You can't let little things get the better of you".

At a minimum, it's clear that there are some very real communication issues with this staff from top to bottom.
This is a lot deeper than Xs and Os

I've heard a rumor that this meeting wasn't quite as rosy as the Harmon tweet implies. But we'll see what happens.

Basically, Butch may not transfer. That's better than him leaving.

What Harmon's tweet tells me is that there is a lot of truth in what Pau'u's mother says. It says that the coaches heard she had taken to social media and they wanted to "correct" the record.

Sitake has spent his time trying to be a player's coach, a best buddy to all the players. That philosophy backfires when you try to come down on a player.

The problem is, the way the message is delivered. When was the last time we had something like this happen under the last coaching staff? Everyone said Bronco was aloof and didn't have great relationships with his players and yet, this kind of thing never happened. Whether there was a misunderstanding by Butch, or the coaching staff, it makes no difference because the way it was received by the player was that he was being demoted for being too short, unless you think his parent was lying on twitter in order to make the current coaching staff look bad. Either way, this is a huge black eye on a coaching staff who is already in panic mode.

Yeah, this comes down to inconsistency. It's tough to go from chummy-chummy, sweep it under the rug, to back-against-the-wall accountability. Accountability is a lot easier when it's consistently applied. Otherwise it feels like you're being jerked around. Which...you kind of are.
