I don't think Rose would stand for that. He's a hard-liner on mission commitments--if you want to go on a mission, you tell him when you are going and that's when you go. If you tell him you aren't going on a mission, he will hold you to your word even if you have a change of heart and tell you to keep your word and go after you finish with basketball.

With the shorter roster in hoops, Rose can't shuffle the uncertainty as easily as the football team can with 80+ guys.

That said, I don't think Parker is a one-and-done specimen--he needs at least 2 years IMHO.
Completely agree. Parker is very very skilled, but his athleticism is suspect compared to other top tier D1 athletes. He is not a one and done guy; and if he is, he's not going to be a Cougar. This is a mature thoughtful kid and while he has vocalized his desire at NBA stardom, he also has a good head on his shoulders and maybe a bigger heart. I think we will stay in the sweepstakes for some time and he'll eventually have to chose between Duke, Kansas, and us. The more and more I hear about him, the less I think he's a Kentucky guy.
This is a quote from the SI article on Jabari,

"Jabari handles the ball like a point guard and has a crossover that makes defenders stumble. His first step has been compared to Oscar Robertson's. He can drain threes, yet he goes to the rim with power and uses his 6'11½" wingspan to block shots and snatch rebounds. (Last season he averaged 19 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks.) One NBA executive told SI that if Jabari were eligible for the draft, he would be a lottery pick in June.

Instead, Jabari is being pursued by all the top college programs—Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, North Carolina. Though he is a serious student with a 3.7 GPA, he is almost certain to leave college after his freshman season. But his fast track to the pros includes a potential detour. A life-altering decision awaits Jabari that few other athletes of his caliber have had to face."

That life altering decision is if he will serve a mission. Then later in the article,

"The next three minutes belonged to Simeon. And with 15 seconds remaining and Simeon up by five, Jabari threw down a two-handed dunk to seal the game. Fans stormed the court, and Jabari found Sonny. The two tallest men in the arena embraced. "I'm so proud of you, son," Sonny said. A couple of weeks later, after Kentucky beat Kansas for the NCAA championship, Sonny called John Calipari to congratulate him. Before hanging up, Calipari said, "I want to coach Jabari."

All this makes me think he is definitely a one and done with the only question being will he serve a mission. I see him either at Kentucky or BYU. I don't think Dukies or Kansas would go for a one and done.

Rose let Harrison change his mind and go when he wanted. So it doesn't seem like he's that big of a stickler. Course after what happened w/ Harrison maybe he'll decide to be:)

Or he will make an exceptions for a very talented player.
