Deeply flawed statistical analysis, interesting starting point, but clearly poorly designed.

While certainly flawed, it does say what we kind of already know.

When it comes to rebounding, steals and assists, Haws has much to improve on.

Meanwhile, KC and MC do a good job of filling up the stat sheet, which shouldn't be discounted.

What the stats don't tell is Haws' ability to draw double teams and impact the game that way.

Haws draws attention and double teams, freeing up other players. Likewise a player like Jimmer may not score high but is an absolute game changer.

Also, there is no explanation as to why steals are so high. They are important and could result in the other team not scoring and you scoring, but are the really the biggest?

No adjustment for shooting percentages either. A guy may steal the ball 5 times, but shoot 30 shots a game at 15% and he's really the most valuable guy on the floor?

There needs to be a stat for blocks/steals that lead to fast break opportunities. Those plays are that valuable.

There needs to be a stat for blocks/steals that lead to fast break opportunities. Those plays are that valuable.

I think you could get rid of the fast break part, just a steal or block that results in points.
