Corbin Kaufusi playing B-ball??

Somebody on CougarBoard indicated that Charles Abouo said that Corbin had been practicing with the B-ball team and has looked good doing it. Is 6'10 too tall to play football because we can use him. If he does play both does he play after football or does he Redshirt this year and play B-ball immediately??

The Kaufusi's need to decide which sport they want to play and focus on it, because splitting time between 2 major sports only leads to poor performances in both.

Re: Corbin Kaufusi playing B-ball??
Bronsons future was always in football. At 6'10" and not a major recruit in football, Corbin deserves the time to figure out where his future is. He wasn't 6'10" when he left on his mission......
For the hoops team, this could be very helpful. We are in need of a big to help fill the gap between now and the end of the semester when Aytes will be available, and Corbin is a long term project on the Oline for this football team, I think it's a win win. Football redshirt, because that's where his future likely is at, and that would be a long term thing, but trying out hoops because his body is now possibly more suited for it.

If Corbin red-shirts in football will he be allowed to play B-ball immediately or will he be required to focus on football until the season is over?

Not sure, I guess we'll see how he works it. The hoops team is woefully short on scholarships.. but Corbin grew on his mission and was a solid prep big at 6'7" now he's huge; legit 6'10" or bigger. Charles Abouo has reported that he's really good and surprising everyone in summer games... who knows?beauso79 wrote:If Corbin red-shirts in football will he be allowed to play B-ball immediately or will he be required to focus on football until the season is over?

Re: Corbin Kaufusi playing B-ball??
Seems kind of odd that he'd be putting a lot of effort into the basketball team with fall camp for football right around the corner. But at the same time you would have to think it would be very difficult for him to lower his center of gravity enough to be effective on the OL if he truly is close to 7' tall now. I guess we'll see how it plays out. He could always play TE

My daughter red-shirted in track during the same year that she competed in cross-country, so I think it is allowed.beauso79 wrote:If Corbin red-shirts in football will he be allowed to play B-ball immediately or will he be required to focus on football until the season is over?

NCAA allows it but will Bronco? He will have to practice/play on the scout team. Possibly does both like Jennifer Hamson did with basketball and volleyball. however you are limited to 20 hours of practice a week between the two sports.

Benjamin Criddle @criddler21, "Just confirmed Corbin Kaufusi will not play football this year, he will walk on to the Bball team."
12:27 PM - 23 Jul 2014
Both he and Toolson will join the team as walk-ons. Roster now at 16 players. We now have depth in 3-point shooting, and depth on front-line.
