Re: Gavin Baxter
Assuming Gavin has the ability to gain some weight and strength he looks like kind of play we have been missing.

He is also a top 100 recruit (#53) on Scout.com. It's crazy how many top 100 recruits Utah County has produced in the last 4 years:Fido wrote:Scout lists him as a 4 star recruit. He sounds like a good get.

Good job Rose and staff, this is a big get for us. Good to get the local talent to stay home and play ball.

Re: Gavin Baxter
Thanks for posting this list. I wonder why Jackson is at #11 and the next highest is Mika at #38. Is he that much better? He also is the only 5 star. Did he play on the national championship team? Is he scoring more than the other Lone peak players, assist more? Is he a better defender? I guess BYU has lost him to the big schools. However I can't feel bad because what we have coming in and coming back looks great!E-Zone15 wrote:He is also a top 100 recruit (#53) on Scout.com. I believe Scout.com only gives 5 stars to their top 25 (4 stars go 26-100+). As for Frank Jackson vs Eric Mika, you really can't compare the two, different years and different positions. Frank has also moved up around 20 spots since decommitting from BYU. More schools have offered him since then. IMO, Eric, Nick, and TJ would have climbed the list if they wouldn't committed to BYU so early and then stayed committed to BYU.
Payton Dastrup is an interesting case, before he committed to Ohio St he was a Scout.com Top 100 recruit (ranked in the 70's). Then he committed to Ohio St only to switch to BYU a few days later. Even then he was a top 100 recruit, then the next Scout.com update knocked him out the top 100, but still a 4 star recuit (I think their 4 star recruits are from 26-150). At the end they had dropped him down to a 3 star recruit, #17 C (were at one point he was rated a top 5 C recruit). ESPN had in their top 100 at #98 and Rivals had him #100.
The point is, ranking tend to move up when you are in demand and sometime drop when you are off the market...
