Re: Jimmer joins the Spurs
Looks like it's only a training camp deal. So he'll still have to make the team.
But if he can show he can make shots, you know Popovich will find a way to use him.

Happy Birthday to me, Jimmer is a Spur!
The door is wide open for him, since Belinelli and Joseph went and chased money in free agency.
The Spurs will use him, he'll get open shots. Great news for Jimmer.

Last best chance to stick in the Association. If he gets cut here, it's overseas for Jimmer.

Well it isn't quite wide open:
At point guard the Spurs have
1 Parker
2 Mills
3 Ray McCallum (traded for this offseason)
All 3 are on guaranteed deals.
At the 2/3 they have
4 Danny Green
5 Leonard
6 Ginobili
7 Kyle Anderson
8 Jonathan Simmons
9 Reggie Williams
For bigs
10 Duncan
11 Aldridge
12 West
13 Diaw
14 Bonner
So that is 14 players on guaranteed contracts. So there is one spot up for grabs. Their roster is wing heavy but Leonard and Anderson have the size to play some PF at need. Jimmer has a chance but not a good one IMO.

Re: Jimmer joins the Spurs
Sorry, got busy and I guess I forgot to respond. I follow the Spurs very closely, and am very familiar with their roster. I can pull the "been here done that" seniority card on this one. Reggie Williams, for example, might not make the 15, and he is not a shooting guard, he is barely a small forward in ability. He is more like a small power forward. Jonathan Simmons was signed from the Summer League, and his contract is a two year deal. He will most likely make the roster (alongside Jimmer) but will lose out to Jimmer most likely, because he can't play the point and Jimmer can. Also, Jimmer is a better shooter, etc etc. And it is also possible that they both make the roster. Ginobili is old and has lost a couple steps, and they will need someone to eat into his minutes, which no one else is really able to on the roster currently (other than Simmons and Jimmer). I would imagine that they both make it, as long as they show healthy and not rusty.Qman wrote:Brayden Green wrote:Happy Birthday to me, Jimmer is a Spur!
