This is about as close to a declaration that he's leaving if 2nd round guarantee.

Yeah, but 2nd round mean a team doesn't have to sign you or have to pay you.

Mika should go ask Plaisted how the 2nd round worked out for him.

If I had Mika's ear I would be telling him that his best case scenario in the NBA would Udonis Haslem. That isn't a bad career, but that involves him developing a rock solid jumper and learning to take a lot of charges. Those are some big maybes.

Simply put 6'10" guys with average length, big man offensive skills and average athletic ability just aren't in demand.

Now I can understand him prefering to try develop in the G-League on a 2-way contract or to play italy over BYU. But I hope he is going in with his eyes wide open. There is a small chance of him carving out a career.

Hopefully he makes enough to finish his degree, if necessary.

Haslem has made over $55,000,000 in 14 NBA seasons, under a much less lucrative CBA than what Mika would play under.

If you tell me I can be the next Udonis Haslem, I leave immediately.

The question comes down to, does Eric Mika have faith in the BYU coaches to help him improve in the areas in which he's lacking? Sufficient enough faith that he's willing to risk being even older and far less likely to be drafted unless perfectly polished. NBA GMs draft on potential and youth.

I think the answer to that question is pretty clear.

It worked out just fine. He's still playing pro ball now. He was also a 4 year redshirt junior who had a degree, unlike Mika. I don't think Plaisted could have improved on it after another year. Mika, I think could. But I realize that is subjective.

We used to have a ski boat and it's name was "Color Me Gone". That's where I see Mica. I would be super-surprised (and elated) if he came back, but I think that's only an outside chance right now. I think the sooner we start thinking with that frame of mind and get on with the future, we'll be better.

As least, unlike awaiting a spot in the B12, we'll know for certain in no more than 8 days.
