And what would you have had Europe and the US do? - fix another coup of a democratically elected government like they've been doing everywhere else for the past 100 years. Good idea. Let's see how that works out.

BTW, I have no idea who shot that plane down and I don't believe the Russian or US state run media conglomerates. The separatists had way more to lose by shooting that plane down than the Ukranian government. Just like the sarin gas in Syria which we now know the US lied about.

Again, who knows what happened? But the real question is how can you guys take the bait every time?
No one is calling for a coup. We are just commenting on how it looks eerily reminiscent of pre-world war II Europe. I am sure there are many things that can be done, but probably the worst thing that can be done is to do nothing. Appeasement was proven to be a bad strategy then, as it is now.

What bait are you talking about?

And yes, they do know what happened. Within 30 min. of Malaysian Flight 17 being shot down pro-Russian Ukranian rebels were on the phone to a Russian commander, explaining that they had shot down a plane and it was a civilian commercial jet. On social media, immediately after Flight 17 was shot down, the pro-Russian Ukranian rebels were posting and taking credit for shooting the plane down. When is became clear it was a civilian passenger jet, the social media posts disappeared - quickly.

And now, pro-Russian rebels are admitting they have the Russian military anti-aircraft missiles (BUK system) that can shoot down a plane - like Flight 17.

"Ukraine rebel leader confirms for the first time that Russian separatists DID have BUK anti-aircraft missiles after U.S. intelligence chiefs said Putin ‘bears responsibility’ for MH17"

Officials claim separatists didn't realise MH17 was a commercial jet

No clear evidence that missile which hit plane originated from Russia

But officials claim Moscow 'created the conditions' that led to disaster

Intelligence suggests culprits were inexperienced with hi-tech missiles

Not to mention that within hours after the downing of the plane, a BUK launch system missing two missiles was caught on video being whisked from the area across the border into Russia . . .

I wonder why western media outlets fail to mention that the Ukranians have the exact same weapons systems as the Russians.

Now if you war mongerers get your way maybe we can sell the Ukranians the same stinger missile systems we sold the Taliban to shoot down planes. Maybe someone can fill me in on how that went.

Call your congressman though because "the worst thing that can be done is to do nothing."

Oh, BTW those outdated SU-25s were flying low and plenty of those planes have been shot down with shoulder weapons (ask the Taliban). Now if the Ukranians had some outdated F-16s subsidized by US taxpayers everything would be wonderful - but I repeat myself and nobody in the US seems to learn from repeated mistakes anyway.

War monger? So now Mr. JV is calling names? Really? Please be specific, exactly who is a "war monger" in this thread that you are referring to. I would like that little point of order cleared up. I have no idea who you are referring to - or why. Thank you.

Exactly who is calling for U.S. military action? I have not read anyone in this thread calling for a U.S. military response in this thread. Perhaps I missed it and you could provide the quote. Thank you.

I think he is just upset that no one bit on the false dichotomy he set up and interprets doing nothing to mean military action is required.

Economic sanctions are already an act of war. Giving military aid or technical support are acts of war. So please tell me what are you, or some crappy, war mongering, yellow journalist from the dailymail suggesting we do in the Ukraine that isn't warmongering?

Let's get this straight. The US aided the coup in the Ukraine. What we have in the shooting down of the two SU-25s is blowback (against a military target engaging in a military campaign) after the thugs the US supported started killing civilians, including children. Sound familiar? It should.

Economic sanctions an act of war? That sounds a lot like Ron Paul. So, are you a Ron Paul devotee? Or just a Liberal that thinks the presence and power of the U.S. is negative, evil and too overbearing in the world?

If economic sanctions are an act of war, then does Congress need to approve all economic sanctions?

Me politically? I am politically Independent, and fiscally very Conservative. I am a student of the Constitution and the original intent of the Founding Fathers.

I believe that the modern Democratic party is no longer the party of our fathers. It has become a Socialistic party that promotes bigger govt, more regulation, more taxes, bigger and more intrusive govt, loss of freedom thru bigger and more intrusive govt. Did I say more taxes and bigger govt?

By the way, the modern and current Liberal Democratic party, including the president and the Dem leadership, the Constitution is just a hindrance to be circumvented and sidestepped to continue their agenda of expanding their Statist, Socialistic agenda.
