I hope you're right Spiff. This president started out socialist and seems to be getting worse. I wouldn't count on him loosing as there are many many who like what he's doing. Thomas Sowell said something like: It's amazing how people who think we can't pay for drs. hospitals, and other medical expenses now think we cab pay for drs., hospitals, other medical expenses and the bureaucracy to run them. I guess they think someone else will do it which is true.

I would agree if this happened in September/October, but this has happened early enough for the left to start educating everyone just about how good it is for them, and Romney will now be painted as the guy who wants to take these now constitutional benefits away from them. Never underestimate the entitlement mindset. Romney is no longer going to have the constitution on his side (although he can and should argue that he does and that SCOTUS is wrong), so now he is the guy taking things away instead of the protector. I think once the initial shock and umbrage wears off, the right will fully perceive how little this will help them in November with independent and/or undecided voters. It has all the people who hated Obama to begin with plenty pissed off, but I don't know that this translates into many more votes in the key swing states.

This is a devastating decision. I never thought Roberts would flip and side with the Liberal side of the court. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. Very deflating, and discouraging.

Yes - plus $1 million. I saw on FOX News tonight that Romney raised $3 million today after the SCOTUS announced it's Obama-care decision. People are angry. In hindsight, the Obama folks will rue this day. It will serve as a rally cry as Nov. approaches. "Out with the tax raisers!" "Out with the Socialists!"

I have talked to about 15 people at work today about this decision, every single person is angry - and this is in liberal California.

If you told me Kennedy joined four other justices in deciding that the commerce clause does not allow Congress to require the purchase of insurance I would have bet the farm on the law getting tossed...NO pundit predicited Roberts being the swing vote and finding constitutionality in the taxing clause. A real shocker.

In a separate matter, I am distressed by the Court holding in another case that the First Amendment invalidates a law prohibiting someone from mispresenting their military achievements. OUTRAGEOUS! Since when did the First Amendment prohibit objectively ascertainable lies?!?

I think all Americans will rue this day eventually, as both parties begin to realize the power they've been given and the opportunity to tax people for not doing things they want.

Possible future taxes we could see:

Don't own a gun? Tax! (Because the government has to spend more on police to protect you because you're unable or unwilling to do it yourself.

Not active in a religion? Tax! Instead of relying on a congregation for immediate help, you only rely on the government, so there should be a tax for that.

Don't drive a hybrid car/solar panels on your house/etc? Tax! Obviously the government has to clean up all the plant food your putting into the air.
