"Hey, don't hurt the school," Gwilliam said. "Be on the message boards, talk about the sports, tweet about BYU, but when it comes to the actual recruits don't go and start recruiting them."
BYU and other schools probably need to make this announcement each year to protect themselves from violations.

Re: Don't Tweet Recruits
So what if your rival school and your school are going after the same highly prized recruit? Could you set up a bunch of Twitter accounts and tweet the guy telling him to go to the other school so they get sanctioned? #unenforceable

Re: Don't Tweet Recruits
This is a dumb rule and message from BYU. Like Hoosier said, #unenforceable.
Can the NCAA regulate free speech?

Re: Don't Tweet Recruits
Just a guess, this is probably a much bigger problem at other schools than BYU.

Radio stations can't even say the name of current players they plan to interview in a propontional/tease format until the player is live on the air.
If any of these rules have changed, I apologize for being obtuse, uninformed, or otherwise fodder for mockery.

Re: Don't Tweet Recruits
I get it. I support not knowingly breaking any rules. But at the same time, there are always dozens of facebook pages asking Player ____ to commit to School ____ . And those pages come down from time to time, but no one is sanctioned. Just don't buy a player a free lunch, etc.
