I agree with you that the Republicans need to focus on Obama's dismal record - and it is dismal.

However, there are a number of problems with just stating that Republicans have not focused on Obama's record - they have. The problem is, the role of a very biased media.

I read a study by a UCLA professor - about media bias. It is a scholarly work, and he concluded that biased liberal media gave a Democratic presidential candidate 10% pts. That is stunning.

As for the whole "Birther" phenomenon. I am not a "birther" - however - those folks do have some interesting points.

I'll list a few points of interest.

1. On the Birth Certificate released by the Whitehouse it lists President Obama's father as Barack Hussein Obama. Good right?

A. But, it lists his father's birth place as "Kenya." At first glimpse - no problem. But, Barack Hussein Obama Sr. was born June 18, 1934. Kenya did not even exist until Dec. 12, 1964 (Wikipedia - look it up).

B. Note - Kenya was created 27 years after Barack Hussein Obama Sr.'s birth. Pres. Obama was born in 1961 - 3 years before Kenya was formed. How could Kenya be listed on his Birth Certificate in Hawaii, when a place called Kenya did not exist?

2. On Pres. Obama's Birth Certificate is lists him as African American. No big deal - now. Bu back in 1961? No way - that term was not used. The accepted, respectful way to refer black people was as Negroes. How could a Birth Certificate in 1961 define Pres. Obama with a term that was not even in use?

There's more - but that suffices. There are legitimate questions - and they are not kooky. However, Obama's people and the liberal media paint the folks that raise serious, legitimate questions about his birth certificate as "kooky." The same way they attack Romney and Ryan as extreme, and "wingnuts." That's the easiest way to marginalize and dismiss serious questions is to portray the questioners as weird, kooky, and odd.

It worked.

Hey, I'm all about a good conspiracy. I actually believe Obama IS hiding something with the birth certificate, college records, etc etc etc. IT will all eventually come out, but not now. BUt all that stuff doesn't matter to me right now.

I get your point about the media, but the media isn't going to give the birth certificate or sealed records any more play. They're going to gloss over everything negative. Soooo... focus on what Obama has done that shows he is incompetent to be re-elected, and I think that is something that will resonate. Focusing on the other stuff gives the MSM a chance to make us all look like the kooks that they are.

I agree. Regarding Obama's college records - I have read his team has spent over $4 million in legal fees ensuring his college records and applications remain sealed. There is something not right here.

Well - 57 days to go. The 3 presidential debates are the key. Critical. Romney is prepping big time. Along with 1 more crappy Jobs Report the 1st Friday in October. That would seal the deal. Buh-bye!!

Of the three debates, the first is the most important for Romney. He must be presidential, in command and expose Obama's record.

The other day a local talk show host said Obama was not a bad person and had been true to his wife, he is just a bad president. I do not think that anymore. I have heard that he and the legislature have spent somewhere around 5.5 TRILLION more than has been taken in during his term! That is immoral. No wonder he wants to tax the "rich" but even the rich can't pay that amount. That is just one of the problems I see with this man.

Here's an accurate assessment of Obama. I believe he is a good husband and a good father. I think Obama is pleasant and fun to hang with. He has an engaging personality, is not stupid - actually quite bright - and a great smile.

Also - Obama is very arrogant, a committed leftist, a hardcore idealogue. He is bright - but not all knowing. He lacks serious experience in business and large, institutional financial matters. He lacks the ability, or willingness to seek common ground and compromise.

Obama likes to dictate and give orders - not compromise - not a good leadership skill. Leadership requires the ability to achieve important goals and not worry about who gets the credit. Achieving the goal is paramount. In a democracy, leadership means compromising and finding common ground. Obama must get the credit and be the center of the universe. He's selfish and self centered. Not a good leadership quality.

So - Obama over estimates his own abilities to achieve and do. He gets angry easily when he does not get his way. He alienates folks that he needs to be building relationships with.

Hey Nuk, check out this chart:

http://www.heritage.org/federalbudget/g ... ng-revenue

Obama actually has done an admirable job of keeping spending increases down to near zero. That's not where his crime lays. Bush and COngress had already pushed that level to astronomical heights and flat is not nearly good enough when the revenue that supports those expenditures completely collapses. The main source for Trillion dollar deficits was the massive fall in government tax revenue and you can't look at spending in a vaccum without revenue.

Rather than push for corresponding massive spending cuts, he managed to keep it about even during his term. Where he DID increase spending was future expenditures for Obamacare which doesn't kick in until after his first term. Meanwhile, as the graph shows, tax revenue clearly hasn't caught up with us yet and I've seen almost nothing from the democrats to push it back up again.

Tax revenue is down because unemployment is up. Obama has provided a "stimulus" package that actually didn't provide any stimulus and has done nothing else. The description above of Obama is accurate. He's arrogant, angers easily and doesn't build relationships with the people that he needs to.

I did look it up. It actually says Kenya, East Africa. During that time the region was under British rule and was known as British East Africa. However there was a revolution and direct elections in 1957 for what would officially be titled Kenya in 1963. The Kenya Africa National Union was the party that took control in 1957. It seems plausible, that in the state of flux the country was in in 1961, Kenya, East Africa would be a pretty accurate description.

False--at least on this version I looked up on the web. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/27/obama-birth-certificate-r_n_854248.html

It does not list his race at all. His father's race is listed as African, and his mother's race is listed as caucasian. That term has been used since 1795.

I am certainly not an Obama supporter, but I am always very suspect of conspiracy theories--especially in the Government. Being a Federal Government employee, I know how impossible it would be to pull something off like that--and keep it a secret. We are far too beauracratic and there are too many of both party throughout the government to pull it off.

Thanks Claw. That chart shows that revenue was following the deficits until about 2010 and now is predicting a $1.08 Trillion deficit. I will try to check with my friend as to where he got his figures and see if I can get your info to him. No matter how you look at it he/they are spending way more than they are taking in.
