A bit more on the dishonest Harry Reid -

Sen. Tom Coburn from Oklahoma said: "Harry Reid is a nice guy, I like him." But, Sen. Coburn went on to say Harry Reid was "dishonest", "un-truthful", "double crossing", has "not kept his word", and, "he's played games".

Of course, Harry Reid said he is very disappointed in Tom Coburn's statements and wish he had talked with him privately. Of course .......

Sen. Tom Coburn blasts Sen. Harry Reid: He’s ‘dishonest,’ ‘not truthful’
By Cheryl K. Chumley-The Washington Times
Thursday, May 9, 2013

Sen. Tom Coburn ripped Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Thursday morning, calling him untruthful, unsuccessful and double-crossing.

Mr. Coburn, Oklahoma Republican, said Mr. Reid, Nevada Democrat, had promised to allow an amendment to a water bill that would have struck down a ban on carrying weapons on the property of the Army Corps of Engineers. The Senate instead said no to the amendment, Politico reported. And Mr. Coburn was stung.

“Harry Reid is a nice guy. I like him,” Mr. Coburn said on MSNBC. “But I think he has been a failure as a majority leader for the Senate in terms of keeping the history of the Senate and the progress of the Senate in line with what it was intended to be by our founders.”

He also charged Mr. Reid with lying and said the leader was much more interested in winning re-election than governing the congressional chamber.

“He has been dishonest with me, not truthful, not kept his word,” Mr. Coburn said, as reported in Politico. “He’s played games, you know? “

Remember, this from the guy (Harry Reid) that went into the well of the U.S. Senate and used anonymous sources - unfounded and unsupported - and attacked the character and integrity of Mitt Romney. Harry Reid is a slime-ball.

Harry Reid funnels money to his family - through donors. It's corrupt cronyism. He lines his pockets and his families.

“When you talk about rigging the system for yourself, I think Harry Reid can just look in the mirror,” he said.

He wrote:
The fact that Harry Reid’s political and influence operation includes his five children has been established for some time. A few weeks ago, when I first heard Reid accuse private citizens of being un-American, I dredged up a Los Angeles Times article from 2003 with the headline, “In Nevada, the Name to Know Is Reid.” Chuck Neubauer and Richard T. Cooper’s meticulously researched and reported article begins with the story of the “Clark County Conservation of Land and Natural Resources Act of 2002,” a land bill of the sort that puts people to sleep. “What Reid did not explain” when he introduced the bill in the Senate, Neubauer and Cooper wrote, “was that the bill promised a cavalcade of benefits to real estate developers, corporations, and local institutions that were paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in lobbying fees to his sons’ and son-in-law’s firms.” I wonder why he left that part out.

Firms tied to the Reid family, the Los Angeles Times reported, earned more than $2 million from 1998 to 2002 “from special interests that were represented by the kids and helped by the senator in Washington.” How much more have they earned in the 11 years since this article was published? Land, energy, water, gaming, and mining—the Reids manage a diversified portfolio. They are not financial investors but political ones. Reid’s four sons are lawyers, as is his son-in-law. They make their money furthering the interests of paying clients, clients operating businesses in the state represented by Reid."

If I ran for office by platform would be thus:

Consider where the country would be 50 years from now:
National debt $x,xxx Trillion (I have not done the math)
Interest Payments $xx Trillion
Interest is more than tax receipt by $xx Trillion
Tax rate is increase to xx%
Unemployment is xx.x%
Our kids future is so bleak. Don't you want your kids to have it better than you!

Well, one thing I can deduce from this thread is that Harry Reid is not on DDawg's Christmas card list. ;)

That is embarrassing! I would think it would be hard to answer the question "Have you been honest in your dealings with your fellow men", if what is said here is true.

It does sound like Gowdy was speaking in jest to a certain extent.

But it wouldn't surprise me if he was addicted to "prescription" drugs/pain killers.

I believe many of our leadership in Congress are on drugs (to include Pelosi, Reid, Boehner and others). I wouldn't be surprised if many of our nation's "leaders" were also impaired by one substance or another (Obama, Hagel, Kerry, etc.)

You spent a lot of time justifying why you would support a documented liar. I don't care what position a person holds, if they are deceivers and liars, I do not support them. Harry Reid is dishonest. Harry Reid is a scheming deceiver. Harry Reid is a liar. Harry Reid carries the water for a president that is accelerating the downward spiral of the USA.

I don't care what political philosophy you have, the single most important ingredient, or character trait is integrity. Whether you are a Liberal Democrat, a Socialist, adhere to the Tea Party, a Republican, or a Libertarian. If you have integrity, and are forthright in your dealings, I have no problem with you. We can disagree politically, or philosophically. But we will get along fine because we are dealing with each other honestly.

Harry Reid is deceitful and dishonest. It's that simple.
Harry Reid wouldn't be the first bishop that I didn't think should be called to preside over me, but I believe that bishops are called by men of God. It is not my place to know the why of all things.

Stuckinbig - I understand and get your position completely. I use to think like you. I have no problem with it. I'm just in a different spot. I too believe Jesus is the head of his Church. I also believe the "leadership" (General authorities) are called by inspiration.

Now, when we are talking about the local Bishop, that is another program - in my book. Most are probably called by inspiration - if the Stake President is in tune. Sometimes, mistakes are made.

Before you form the opinion that I am an apostate, let me share an experience. About 13 years ago, my Elders QuorumPresident was called to be "our" Bishop. It was a big mistake. I knew it. I had a private meeting with the Stake President and was pretty blunt. He appreciated what I had to say - but went forward with his decision. I supported that Bishop for the next 2 years till the Stake President realized he had made a huge mistake and released that Bishop - abruptly.

Subsequently, that Bishop and his wife went inactive, his wife has left the Church. Is hostile towards the Church, and members that have tried to visit with her. She is vocal about the fact that she never had a testimony, and she drinks alcohol regularly. He is coming back now - 10 years later. Good for him.

My point is, if I was in the same Ward as Harry Reid, and he was called to be the Bishop, and the Stake President asked everyone to raise their hand to sustain him - I would not. When they asked id anyone opposed - I would raise my hand. Knowing everything I know about Harry Reid, there is now way I would sustain him.

If the Stake President wanted to talk to me privately, I would be forthright and blunt about my concerns. If he told me he was still going forward with his decision - I would support that - and I would support Harry Reid as my Bishop. But, I would not raise my hand to support that calling without voicing my sincere concerns. I'm at a point where I have learned to trust my concerns, instincts, and inspiration. I'm not 100% right all the time. I make mistakes. But, I have a healthy respect for my inspiration and instincts.

Harry Reid called a "liar" more than 12 times on MSNBC.

"MSNBC Co-Host Rails on Harry Reid’s ‘Koch Addiction’, Calls Reid a Liar More Than 12 Times"
Apr. 4, 2014 11:00pm

Friday’s edition of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” opened with an unusual segment. It was 12 minutes of an unfiltered discussion of Harry Reid’s almost-daily attacks on the Koch Brothers.
