Today Harry Reid told reporters the southern border is secure.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Tuesday asserted the southern border is secure despite the massive surge of illegal minors from Central America that has overwhelmed federal agencies.

“The border is secure,” he told reporters after the Senate Democrats’ weekly policy lunch. “[Sen.] Martin Heinrich [(D-N.M.)] talked to the caucus today. He’s a border state senator. He said he can say without any equivocation the border is secure.”

Sure it is, if you consider leaving the border wide open to let your new voting block in "secure" those in charge of securing our borders are doing a fine job

Cut off the social programs and the handouts and the border situation becomes a non-issue. AND you'd get the type of immigrants staying that WANT to be here and who would contribute in a positive manner. I have nothing against those coming here from the south. But the way they are handled after coming here is atrocious.
