Bottom Five and Other Miscellany

Post by BoiseBYU »

A weekend of stuffing and pie and turkey and a most come from behind victory (See #1 below) So let's get to it!

5. Auburn defensive coordinator! Dude's defense gave up 55 points to Alabama and so the next day he gets fired. The explanation could be that with the amount of money Auburn was spending on its players, it was not getting the return expected.

4. Notre Lames! What a fall from grace (can that be said?). USC waxes them, putting up 35 points in the first half alone.

3. Idaho! Beloved Vandals go 1-10 but it is a ho-hum, unenthusiastic 1-10. And they did not even make it to the bottom of their own conference, that honor going to 1-11 Georgia State. That cancelled FL game doomed Idaho's chances for a historic year. The Vandals do get a special commendation for going 3-32 over the past three years. So there is that.

2. The Bottom Five was all ready to list Savannah State here only to find out their season ended with their game at BYU? So let's go with the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors for chickening out of their game with BYU and forcing Savannah State to come all the way to BYU to end their season out in the cold like some homeless refugee.

1. Nebraska Corn Stalks! The Stalkers followed up their 400+ yard defensive effort to WI's Melvin Gordon by losing to Iowa. What solidifies their placement at the top (or more accurately the bottom) is that even though they went 9-3 they fired their coach! And this is a coach who won 9 or 10 games every single year he coached there (7 years total) You have got to award and acknowledge such efforts and that is why they are our new number one team. The rumor is that the coach did not win enough of the big games and it is true that NE has not beaten OK for several years now. So there is that. Still. Congratulations to Big but not as Big Red as WI red.

Demerits are in store for UAB. They are dismantling their FB program. Apparently they are too scared to compete for Bottom Five consideration.

I know Dallas is desperate, but signing Will Smith to the practice squad is simply beyond the pale. The 76er's apparently think that rapturewill happen if they hit their team name in losses and long for this day....They are on track to doing so, now going 0-16....In the Women's World Cup Giant Slalom, Italy's Manuela Moelgg took last at 2:08.36. She had too many g's holding her back. Can't end this session without a shout out to the Oakland Faders. 1-11 baby!
