Story from an apostle

Post by scott715 »

I remember one of the Apostles telling a story about a day trip he and his grandfather took years ago in Southern Utah. They were coming back home and came to a fork in the road. Not remembering which road they came in on they decided to say a prayer and were immediately prompted to take the road that went to the right. They went down this road and realized after a couple hundred meters that it was a dead end. So they had to turn around and go back to the fork and take the other road which eventually led them out. He asked his grandfather why he felt impressed to take the wrong road after saying the prayer, feeling misled by the spirit.

Any ideas?

The fact that rather quickly they knew, for a fact, that the dead end road was not the correct road - they changed course and knew positively they were now on the correct road. If they had taken the correct road first, they would have second guessed themselves on the journey.

I wish my decisions had so much certainty. Clarity is a huge blessing.

There's a Mormon Message retelling the story. I'm thinking it was Elder Holland?

It's called "Wrong roads and revelation" I think. I only know because I sent it to my girlfriend, now wife of 8 years fortunately, when I kept freaking out about getting married.

Thank goodness for that revelation.

Finally figured out how to get the Rich Rod quote off my signature that randomly showed up! Sorry if you thought I stole it from you……..whoever it was that used to have it
