How to Play the Prediction Game

Playing the Prediction Game is fun and easy. It only takes a few simple steps.

1. Sign up for an account. As you signup you will be asked to pick a username and password, enter your email address, and so-on. You will also be asked to type in a Prediction Group. This is very important because the people in this group will be the people you are competing against. You want to be in the same group as your friends. For example, a large number of posters from CougarBlue.com are competing against each other here. Anyone who wants to play with them should type the group: CougarBlue into the Prediction Group.

2. Login with your new username/password.

3. From the "Board Index" go to the Predictions link. You will automatically be taken to your group where you will see your name in a table with columns for each of BYU's upcoming opponents. For games that have not yet happened, thr cell that corresponds to your name and the game will have a '--' in it. This means you may make your predictions by clicking on the '--'.

4. Click on the '--' of a cell in your row, in the column for the opponent you want to make a prediction for. It will take you to a page which will ask you 11 questions. Answer each question and select "Submit Predictions"

5. After the game has been played, an administrator will enter the actual results which will automatically grade your predictions and give you a score. As you visit the prediction page, instead of a '--' in the cell, you will now see a score of 0 - 73 points. You can click on your score to go to the question page and see exactly how many points you got for each question.

6. Have fun!

Groups:

You may want to join an existing group if your friends are already involved in it, or you can create your own group.

Existing Groups:
CougarCorner - This is for fans who frequent this website

BSLW - This is for employees of Backstage Library Works http://www.bslw.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Jonespaint - A group I don't know anything about, but they are there having fun

To join one of these groups, either type in the group name in the Prediction Group field when registering, or if you're already a user and didn't join the right group, go to the User Control Panel (upper left of screen), click on the Profile tab, and scroll down to the Prediction Group and enter the group name. Submit your changes and you're good to go.

If you would like to create a new group, simply type an unused name into the Prediction Group, you can also message me, and I will include details about your group here, if you would like.

I entered four games in, thinking I would eventually get around to the whole season. Can we enter them one game at a time? My predictions may get better (not likely as I am a blue goggled homer who can't ever predict a loss because I saw Detmer come back to tie San Diego State) as I have more information.

You can always enter any game and save the results as your default picks, meaning those will automatically save for the rest of the games. But then you can always override the default picks by selecting specifically for any opponent.

For me, I always do the first game of the season and tell it to save my picks as the default in case an emergency comes up and I'm not able to get my picks in in time before the next game. But normally I'm able to get my next picks in and override the previous defaults I selected.
