BYU is still #2 on the RPI, so not hurt by the last two opponents.
Their RPI actually fell one spot to #3 per the NCAA site.

By the way, Top Drawer Soccer has us at #2.

Tough 0-0 draw with Santa Clara. Man! Santa Clara's defense is good. Never gave us a good look at goal. Michelle Vasconcelos went down twice weird on her knee. She stayed in the game, but she didn't look comfortable after that. It may have just been that she was exhausted after two overtime periods. I hope that's what it was. Anyway, they played a really good match, the usual aggressive offense, but Santa Clara's defense was SO good.

And Vasconcelos was even on the BYUSN so she should have had some karma!!

The WCC is pretty decent this year, but I don't know that any of the other teams will be able to play the same type of game Santa Clara did as effectively.

Wow! Did you see the Hatch Trick tonight? We were anemic the entire first half and even going into the second half. Then all of a sudden we exploded with four goals, three from Hatch and one from Medeiros, all in a 7-minute span. Then, while we were a heck of a lot more aggressive, we went silent again on goals (largely because we subbed out a bunch of players). Hatch's first goal, a header, was phenomenal. That now gives her 15 on the year. And the cross in from Alyssa Jefferson was perfect. Jefferson is a STAR. Interesting game of contrasts tonight, but we came out with a strong win. We needed a strong win after the tie. Hopefully, it keeps us from dropping in the rankings. I read we dropped in the RPI, but didn't see it when I last looked.

Update: we dropped to 5th in RPI.

USF is ranked in the 120s in the rpi, so that's where the slight drop comes from. LMU and Pepperdine are both ranked in the 30s however, so if we win those on the road the rpi will get another boost.

Here are where BYU's opponents so far rank on the rpi. We're building a pretty nice resume -- much better than last year's when the schedule did not turn out to be as good as we'd hoped. This schedule has some teams doing better than expected. Utah and SMU weren't supposed to be top 30 type teams.

@Washington State - 60 - W
Nebraska - 20 - L
@Penn State - 22 - W
Tennessee - 106 - W
@Utah - 24 - W
SMU - 30 - W
@Ohio State - 19 - W
@Utah State - 81 - W
Denver - 155 - W
Long Beach State - 59 - W
Santa Clara - 37 - T
USF - 120 - W

So I'm guessing the women thought the game started at 6:30 and not 5:30 last night.

So, I hope someone can answer this for me. This year I learned the difference between an attacking mid and a holding mid. Medeiros is very obviously an attacking mid and Hunt-Barker is a holding mid. What would Bizzy Bowen be considered, attacking or holding? Or Is she kind of a combo player? In a way, I guess all of our mids are kind of combo players, but they have primary responsibilities. I just can't figure out what Bowen's are.
