If Penn State has any integrity, any at all, the Board of Trustees will self impose a death penalty.

If they had any integrity they wouldn't have covered up and sanctioned countless little kids to a life of mental anguish at the hands of an abuser.

If I am Penn State I try to take every opportunity to look proactive and responsible. Clean sweep. New AD, all coaches affiliated with prior program shown the door.

You can bet parents of recruits by Penn State are telling there kids not to go there. I'd tell them they can go to any school but Penn State.

Agree to disagree. I understand your point and I see the fringes of what you say because the officials were trying to keep their institution's reputation unscathed above the cries of those young boys. Shame on them, and specifically Paterno. Their talk of honor has been tarnished forever and the facade of their honor has been stripped away for some time. While this generation lives, the flames of their crimes will not be extinguished.

The school will be raked over the financial coals of civil tort law and I think it very appropriate and I hope that the criminal laws that were designed to protect our society from such intentions of malice in covering up these crimes will reach in and hold those administrators/coaches responsible for such grievous acts of disregard for human suffering and decency. I hope they spend time in jail. Paterno never will, but his lack of responsible action was irreprehensible and it was probably better for him to have passed before the report came forth this week bringing light to his knowledge of the crimes and his inaction.

I still simply believe that we leave the punishment up to the courts that we have empowered and bring the focus of football being about collegiate athletics. I think at the base level we all feel that way, but sometimes because of the heinous actions of some individuals and their lack of humility, we want more than the casual justice that we see rampant in our society.

Is there any evidence that current board members new anything? If there is they should resign and be investigated.
However, most guilty parties have already left, Been terminated, or died.
Yes, this is tragic for those boys and their families and futures. And yes, they will have to learn to survive. And yes, there will be compensation financially in big numbers to try and put their lives back together.
But for some of you to just keep throwing crap at anybody and everybody is just blind rage and misplaced indignance; that or you are trying to prove to the world your morality.
When the rape happened by BYU football players, Should the whole BYU football program been shut down by the Board? Should it have been shut down or sanctioned by the NCAA?
Or at least proportionately so? If You say yes, then b that same standard you are also indirectly calling out the integrity of the Board of Trustees--The Brethren--Apostles and Prophets-- because certainly they should have Far more integrity than what would be expected by a secular, state run University. c'mon already.

It very nearly was, and rightfully so. No athletic institution should exist if it condones that kind of behavior.

I still want to know how that locker room is still standing! The Penn St football team should be out there tomorrow with shovels and sledges and starting to tear that place down.

I think the university has suffered and will suffer enough from this without the NCAA needlessly getting involved--just wait until the remaining criminal and civil suits get underway.

I've yet to see how this implicates the NCAA's sanctioning ability, and at this point any punishment only punishes those who had nothing to do with this other than being associated with PSU.

The civil judgements will likely be in the hundreds of millions of dollars. There is no great fund to pay this from. Ultimately the tax payers of PA will foot the bill, indirectly imposing a tuition hike on all of Pennsylvania.
