By the end of the season, ten bucks says Heaps isn't the starting QB anymore.

Kansas seems to already be in QB2 mode. If the mobile QB learns to not cock the gun until you are ready to pull the trigger - quicker release - he will avoid those fumbles that occurred when the ball was slapped just before forward motion. Other than that, his run threat opened up the RB and play action.

Probably also helps mitigate a bad OL. Heaps needs 3 - 4 seconds of bliss to throw the ball.

http://espn.go.com/college-football/pla ... jake-heaps" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Weekly heaps update. 50% on the day, 153 yards, 50 of them on one play. QB rating right in keeping with his season average; 104.

I wouldn't even mind if he did well, BUT I do remember a lot of folks around here saying that Bronco's job would be in jeopardy if Jake tore it up at Kansas, many said it was the biggest mistake of Bronco's career to let Jake go. I think it may have been one of the best moves to not let a 19 year old take over the team with his demands.

Good luck Jake. Looks like you'll need it.

Jake had NO chance of tearing it up at Kansas. He may not finish the year as the starter. Quitters don't excel at what they do.

To be fair, he basically doubled his PER vs TCU today from the last time he played them.

BYU PER W/L Since 1972: 432-76 (.850)
(8.4x
YDS)+(330xTD)+(100xCOM)-(200xINT)

TCU is probably double as bad as they were last time he played them...just to be fair.

KU had under 200 total yards. TCU turned it over several times. I read that all KU points came on short drives after turnovers. That is how KU got 17 points or so on 190 total yards or so. They never drove the length of the field to score per CBS.

Heaps is a red-shirt Junior and still struggling. Not sure if they did any QB2 today. If they did, some of the 190 might be him.

Anae just might be the guy. Wisconsin DC says Anae is totally unpredictable because he just runs a bunch of plays with no rhyme or reason. Whooped Butt on Houston DC for 3 of 4 quarters. Destroyed Texas DC and HC careers.

All football players, or athletes for that matter, reach a point where it's time to move on to something else. Maybe that point in time has arrived for Heaps. I wish him well in his life after football.

At this point, he should continue getting his schooling paid for by staying on scholarship and making sure he gets a good degree.

He might actually make a very good football coach. He certainly understand the mechanics of the QB position.

Basically you're saying he'd make a good scout team coach. TIC
