It's Official: Crime Scene TV Hates Mormons

Post by Italics »

First Law and Order, now Cold Case.

To sum it up:

- Mormons are a bunch of social rejects who freak out at any sort of cultural fad, and our most common phrase is "but that disrespects God!"
- Most Mormons parents scream "NEVER DISRESPECT THE GARMENT!" to their children. Among other popular LDS phrases: "But that's heathen!" "I'm lusting" "that's the sinner talking"... you know what, there were so many laughable quotes in this episode that I can't even keep track of them all
- Sheltered LDS children who aren't allowed to express their feelings grow up to murder people. Oh, and their middle name is usually "Brigham"

Oh, and as a bonus, the episode showed a man wearing garments several times - yup, symbols and all!
Oh, let's also not forget the phrase "My God is an extraterrestrial! He's from a planet named Kolob!"

I guess it's just time for CSI to jump on the bigot-bandwagon... or maybe they have already and I'm just not aware of it.

Do you know why so many vehicles have native American Indian names? It's because it's the smallest demagraphic in the US and the fewest number of people to offend. Can you imagine drivig a Ford "bethel", chevy "Talmud", or Chrysler "Mecca"?

Amazing in this world of tolerance, where the lines still stand of things we can ridicule and things that are off bounds.

Bigotry is Alive and well in this country.

Yeah, it's a good thing they don't use religious terms like "Santa Fe." ;)

I think in a more broad context, hollywood/the media just hates religion period.

When was the last time you saw anything religious on TV that was cast in a positive light?

Buddhist, Tao, etc. pretty much anything except Christianity, because that's being open-minded, tolerant, and understanding.

Agreed that Christianity is picked on more than others. Especially "cults" like the mormons.

It is simple number game. They need someone to stereotype. So they a religious group most people have encountered but is small enough that offending said group will not deep hurt their ratings. In the end it isn't really personal.
