I've never withdrawn from school, so I have no idea how it works.
Is there a process for re-admission? Something like a bishop's interview where you have to vouch that you are living according to the HC?

Otherwise, what prevents a kid from withdrawing from school, does something dastardly (fornicating, apostatizing, drinking, throwing a rave party, growing a beard), and then re-enrolling? The HC can't touch it because it happened while the person wasn't technically a BYU student, right?

But if there is some kind of re-validation of being in compliance with the HC, then it is up to that process to adjudicate whether or not that student can be part of the university. At most the staff is acknowledging that their standards are no stricter than the university's--good enough for the school, good enough for the team.

So then the cognoscenti should be surprised at the university process at least as much as the staff, no?
Or is the surprise that Bronco's discipline was further beyond the mark of the University's discipline than is Sitake's discipline?

It always amazes me how people think others should be punished for what they've done - or worse what they think they've done.

Didn't Jesus say something about throwing stones?

And we wonder why people think Mormons are self-righteous...

I have sat in on bishop courts/high council meetings where the consequences for having sex outside of marriage were being decided.. In some cases, the result was excommunication, some disfellowship, and it one,, a stern warning and probation. The last was a really weird incident.

Who are we to judge in this case what was the right or wrong way to divvy out the consequences. To do otherwise, unless we know the facts of the situation, including the context, are we but rumormongers and displaying our own arrogance.

You mean referencing Jesus to support your position and attack someone else is viewed as "self-righteous?" Hmmm who'd have guessed that?

Yes, true Christians aren't supposed to mention Jesus. Or scriptures. Or morals.

oh you can reference them, but only if you don't afterwards (and by "afterwards" I mean "the very next line in the same post") pretend that having a righteous position is a bad thing... At least be consistent.
