Re: Offensive problems not Taysom's fault
When I see these videos I always wonder how the poster knows what the play was "supposed" to be and which player messed up. How does Nate know how the play should have gone or which player was wrong?
Same thing happened on the pick6 at Utah. I think it was Dave McKan (sp?) said taysom was expecting a 4 yard out and the receiver ran an 8 yard out and messed it up.
How do they know? I'm not saying they're wrong I just don't know how they know.

Finally figured out how to get the Rich Rod quote off my signature that randomly showed up! Sorry if you thought I stole it from you……..whoever it was that used to have it

He definitely needs to improve.frdbtr wrote: Which Taysom has had before. Go watch the Nebraska game from last year, when he had a better oline, better receivers and better coaching. Don't get me wrong, I am not turning on Ty, but he needs to improve.
In moments like these I always remember a story a friend of mine once told me. He's a counselor and had a patient with a gambling problem. The patient was at a casino playing a slot machine for hours and not winning. Finally, a janitor took pity on him and told him the machine was broken. It was due for servicing and management knew it but didn't want to lose out on the revenue by removing the machine from the floor. The janitor told the patient, "It's never going to give you a payout." The patient, decided to keep plunking quarters in it, as he felt it was due for a big payout and ended up playing on the machine through the whole night.
Taysom has had some good games. Heaps also delivered a stellar freshman year. The question right now is whether
Taysom is delivering now, and if not how long do we keep plunking quarters in him? I'm not convinced the payout is there. Perhaps I'm too quick to pull the plug, but we only have 9 games left and we're trying to court the Big 12. Now is not the time to keeping plunking quarters into a broken machine.

FWIW I believe that we could win zero more games this year and it would not impact the Big 12's decision on whether to invite us or notGunk wrote:... but we only have 9 games left and we're trying to court the Big 12. Now is not the time to keeping plunking quarters into a broken machine.

IMO, the thread title should be "Offensive problems not 100% Taysom's Fault, But He is a Large Part of the Problem, Plus We Are All Sad That He Doesn't Run as Fast as Forever Ago and Losing Close Games Sucks." ....or something like.

Totally agree. There's no way they're that short sighted. (Ok 1-11 might sway them a little)ABYUFAN wrote:FWIW I believe that we could win zero more games this year and it would not impact the Big 12's decision on whether to invite us or notGunk wrote:... but we only have 9 games left and we're trying to court the Big 12. The nearly 63K attendance on Saturday night has more to do with Big 12 membership than the 14-17 scoreboard.

Re: Offensive problems not Taysom's fault
Remember the big thing with this offense is everyone has to read the defense then they know the routes to run in the play called, so the decision making is very fluid up to and even after the snap of the ball. The QB, receivers, RB's etc during the play are supposed to make adjustments based on what the defense is doing. Right now it looks like Taysom and the receivers are seeing different things in the defense so there is the "miscommunication" that is being thrown around. Truth is who is not reading the defense correctly? Is it Taysom, the receivers or both? I tend to think it is a little of both.Gunk wrote:How do we know what Hill is expecting vs what the reciever does? Does the play call for a receiver to float out or come down hill?
No question there is misscommunication. Either the receivers aren't following the plays or Hill isn't or both. Regardless, the timing is way off and the receivers are out of sync with the QB. Remember all those stories we heard of Max Hall going out and throwing balls with Pita and Collie. I wonder if the same was going on with Hill and this receiving corps. Doubt it, since Hill was rehabbing.
What is "interesting" in those replays is Hill had time to throw the ball. As bad as the OL is Hill got time to throw the ball.
