Re: Who SHOULD start at QB against UMass?
If you feel like Zach Wilson is the best QB on the roster then having him start against ISU and UMass is smart to get the rust off and have some things to see in film review.
If they don't feel like he's the best QB then what is Aaron Rodderick even doing?

I voted for Hoge. He's a trooper for sticking through it even though his dad was ready to turn the program into a royal dumpster fire. Umass IS a spectacular dumpster fire, so I say get Hoge some time at QB and give some meaningful minutes to Critchlow. Anyway that's why I voted the way that I did- I recognize that the best path forward would be to give Wilson a chance to get better, because currently He's the 3rds best QB that I've seen playing this year

While Hoge is still technically listed on the team, his career is over because of concussions.

I voted for Wilson because he is QB1 on the depth chart and needs live game opportunities to build confidence and get into a better rhythm going in to the SDSU game.
It was also the right move to rest Baylor Romney last week to allow his turf toe to continue to heal. It's better to have the backup at full strength for when we really might need him.
And, not a bad thing to give Critchlow some reps in the mop-up situation.

Yeah, and I was surprised too when they handed out the senior blankets and his name was called. It was like, "Oh yeah, he's still around." Too bad his career was marred by concussions. That's why I don't see Hall sticking around. I'd counsel him against it.

I only can go off of what I have observed gametime. If that is the standard (and we assume no injury or health issues), then Romney, Hall, Wilson or Critchlow. In realtime, I'd keep Romney out to heal and Hall out to preserve, so I'd go Critchlow and then Wilson...Zach needs to improve in-game decisions and performance....I do not see it....

So Lavell Edwards was right. The backup QB is the most popular player in Provo. Only this year it's the 2nd, 3rd and apparently 4th string qb. Heck even a retired QB is more popular.

What also has my head scratching with Wilson is his propensity to throw into traffic. Repeatedly, he throws into double or triple coverage. If three defenders are covering one area of the field, odds are there is a more open player elsewhere. So why throw it into triple coverage?
Again, for a player that is supposedly a film junky, things like not throwing into triple coverage, throwing the ball away, or just taking the sack instead of trying to make a play ought to be engrained.

Three quarterbacks have seen significant playing time this season. Wilson’s overall performance has been worse than the other two. The most troubling concern is his decision making.
