Ponder = Locker ???

Post by snoscythe »

Last season, people were ripping our D for getting blowed up by Ponder (rightfully so, to an extent). Ponder was panned as a slightly above average QB.

I thought Ponder was better than that, but I sure didn't expect this--Ponder is listed as top 10 OVERALL prospect for the 2011 draft, with a raw score exactly equal to Locker, who many think will be #1 overall:

for those complaining about our scheduling, they might take notice of the qbs we have to play against next year... it's a laundry list of talent.
our linebackers and dbs had a tough time catching up with Ponder that day.... but he doesnt' have half the arm strength of locker. (lockers issue is more about accuracy, and I have yet to see him fix that)

During that Florida St. game... Wasn't our player caller in the back field injured... Andrew Rich??? Our defense was definitely lost that game.

Other than that... Ponder made us look foolish last year. I was so bummed watching that game. I couldn't watch anymore after the 3rd qtr.

Depression kicked in for a week. At least until our next win. Footbal really controls my emotions during football season.

(sometimes I wonder if you actually watch the games; this isn't a debate with much merit)

Ponder throws a decent accurate ball, but Locker gets it out much faster and with more velocity. Lockers problem is and may always be accuracy.

Most of the early scouting on Ponder is to truly see if he has enough arm strength to be a starting qb in the NFL someday. And if you watch those videos above, you'll see a guy that accurately leads his receivers but certainly doesn't buzz that ball in there.

Locker on the other hand, has Matt Stafford type of arm strength, but his ability to put the ball where it needs to be is sometimes in question.
