Info on Georgia State

Post by cougfan84 »

First meeting between BYU And Georgia State, here's some info. on Georgia State....

The Atlanta Based college went 22-12 last year, and, like Tennessee State last week, went to the collegeinsider.com tournment. They won Tennessee Tech in the first round, but lost to Mercer in the second round.

The Panthers have only one Senior on the team(Vincent James).

They are coached by Ron Hunter, who is in his 2nd year at Georgia State.

Against Duke, leading scorer on Geordia State is 5' 10" guard Devonta White. Judging by his stats he doesn't like to pass the ball and is turnover prone with only 1 assist and 6 turnovers in their loss to Duke. He scored 19 points against Duke; 35% of the team's points. Looks like he can shoot the 3.

Second leading scorer was 6' 5" freshman forward R.J. Hunter with 14 points. Hunter also hauled in 10 boards so had a double double against Duke - not too shabby.

Next it was 6' 10" center James Vincent with 8 pts and 5 rebounds.

After White, Hunter and Vincent production falls off dramatically. We keep any one of those three guys in check and we ought to be good.

We have a tendency to struggle with quick dominant guards, so White will be a good test for us. I'm curious to see how we fair against White.

Game time is 7 pm MST. Game will be televised on BYUtv.

This is good test to see how our perimeter D is going to be. Carlino has talked about taking the best opposing guard Abouo-style. Now is the time to prove it. We might end up missing Winder. Maybe Delgado could be a stopper too.

25-2 right now. This could be a blowout of epic proportions.

KEep the pedal to the metal, clear the bench and rest the starters in half 2.

Saying they suck would be to overestimate their level of play.

Carlino is just killing it on D right now. 4 assists, 3 boards, at least 3 steals. 6 points.

Making great decisions right now.

Why does BYU have Calvert bringing the ball up the floor? Delgado is a much better ball handler.

Good game. Nice to see BYU come out hot. Wow...what a start.

Got a little sloppy at times, but good game.

Carlino played well, nice d and good vision on the court. Plus he really didn't force any shots.

Davies was a beast and Haws lights out.

Bit worried about our depth.

Sharp played well tonight doing hustle things. G. State didn't have great size so they probably helped him.

Austin and Davies stopped going for charges every time and blocked some shots.

Carlino was a very good tonight.

Our offensive died when Davies when out.

Zylstra should never ever dribble. He missed 3 tough shots in a row and got yanked for Delgado.

Haws was really hot to start and then G State defenders made it tough on him.
