Give Anson Winder more minutes
More minutes for Anson is better for BYU in the short and long term this season. Guy is playing great basketball.

Re: Give Anson Winder more minutes
Amen.
Should be our starting PG. Been the most consistent player on the team aside from Haws. Only one that could work over EKU's press and he was splitting defenders like they were tomatoes.

Re: Give Anson Winder more minutes
The only problem is you have to bring Fischer off the bench but he is a team captain. Maybe you start Fischer but sub Winder in early.

Re: Give Anson Winder more minutes
He is playing starter's minutes, 24.6 mpg, which is 3rd highest on the team. He seems to be thriving in his role and every team needs that spark off the bench. Leave it alone for now.

Re: Give Anson Winder more minutes
Maybe start four guards and Austin, if match ups are ok.
Winder at point, Fischer at 2, Haws 3, Collinsworth 4 and Austin 5..
But I do like having his spark off the bench.

Re: Give Anson Winder more minutes
Winder:
14 pts/game; 4.3 rebounds/game; 1.4 assists/game (0.9 turnovers); 1.1 steals/game; FG% .576; 3P% .565.
Halford:
5.7 pts/game; 0.5 rebounds/game; 3.2 assists/game (2.0 turnovers); 0.3 steals/game; FG% .407; 3P% .375
Fischer:
16.3 pts/game; 2.1 rebounds/game; 2.6 assists/game (2.0 turnovers); 0.7 steals/game; FG% .475; 3P% .450.
Percentage wise, Winder is a better shooter than Fischer. He's a better defender as measured by steals. Rebounds better and his assists to turnover ratio is better as well.
Fischer is getting about 5 min more a game than Winder. IMO, it should be the other way around.
Yes, Fischer burnt it up from the arc a few times, but so far Fischer is very hot and cold, dropping a bunch of points one night and going 2 - 14 the next night. Winder on the other hand has been extremely consistent and is scoring in multiple ways.

Re: Give Anson Winder more minutes
I think most of us agree Winder has played better than Fischer and deserves minutes. But once you make a guy a captain or a starter you have to be careful about benching him.
This team has pretty good chemistry right now. I don't think we want to mess with it yet.

For the record, Carlino was a team captain...
