I wonder why Tyler Haws...

Post by EM_Puma »

I wonder why Tyler Haws signed for the summer league with the Cleveland Cavaliers?

http://www.ohio.com/blogs/cleveland-cav ... r-1.606115" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
"Unlike past years, it will be nearly impossible for any of the summer league invites to make the Cavs’ final 15-man roster."
Did he not know that or is he doing it entirely for the experience to help him be a better player? I was glad he went to the Cavs, but I didn't know it's expected that none of the summer league invites will have a chance.

Because the other teams will get a chance to see him perform. It may open a door.

It implies that he had no better options.

I see Tweets of locals reporting Tyler Haws leads Cleveland Cavs scorers with 12 points on 3 of 4 night, 11 minutes of play. He was 3 of 3 from beyond 3 point line.

Excited, I went to the two largest newspapers in Cleveland area (Cleveland Plain Dealer and Akron Beacon Journal) to see if it was noted. Didn't find even a mention that the Cavs played a summer league game. Part of issue is that Cleveland has MLB and NFL teams and not a one-sport team like Utah Jazz with Salt Lake City. Both papers focused on release of LeBron James new movie Trainwreck. Very disappointing.

Haws played the fewest minutes on the team, 11, and had the most points, 12.

I finally found the box score after googling NBA Summer League. They didn't have score yet posted on ESPN. Just amazing. Played the least minutes of any Cleveland Cavs player (the next player had five more minutes that Ty) and out-scored them all!

Ahhh, the Cavs should cut Dellawhatever and pick up Haws. They don't need a back up PG with Lebron on the team but they do need more shooters. Dellawhatever couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

Reggie Miller, the Knick slayer, thought TH played very well from the get go and made his presence known immediately. He liked his game and shooting stroke/range.
