Dave Rose wasn't excited about the move to the WCC either, and there was serious talk amongst "the faithful" on I believe it was cougarblue (at the time) that he was going to take the OK state job offer because he was so unhappy about it. The boosters came together and made a push and that didn't happen, however true or untrue the rumors were.

There are a lot of reasons BYU doesn't have a lot of on court talent, I am listing a few. You are the ones nailing it down to single issues. I can tell you one thing, though Dave Rose is to blame for mismanaging KColl, he is a top notch coach and we are lucky to have him.

By the way, it was Oklahoma who offered Dave Rose. He turned it down and then they offered it to Lon Kruger who also turned it down at first. Then they went back to Kruger with more money and he took it. I don't remember OSU going after Rose. There were Missouri rumors before OU, but OU was defintely his last offer that got some play in the media.
