Greg Wrubell tweeted: "Thursday's game in Boise is being promoted as a "blue-out"; the Broncos have worn all-blue unis twice at home this season--v. Wazzu and USU."
On the Royal Blue Podcast, Brian Logan and Ross Apo said that playing BSU on the smurf turf when BSU is in blue leads to BSU players actually blending in with the turf and thereby making it harder to make plays.
No wonder (as tweeted by Wrubell):
"Heading into Thursday's blue-turf tilt with BYU, Boise State's regular-season non-conference home winning streak is at 31 games." "Boise State last lost a regular-season non-conference home game more than 15 years ago (Sept. 8, 2001, 41-20 loss v. Washington State)."

FWIW I don't buy into any of that blue turf hurts our ability to make plays, any more than if Michigan State was "blending in" on their field. I've played on it, (All of the high schools in Boise did in the late 80's when I was there - I don't think that they still do but I'm not sure) and the field color does nothing to change the game at the field level. (from the stands it's a bit different)

Hope that changes on Thursday
Jump on Boise early and they may not know how to respond. Unfortunately, BYU hasn't really jumped on any team early this year as we've been outscored 42-41 in the 1st quarter. We've only had one end of 1st quarter lead this year (21-14 vs Toledo) and only one halftime lead (9-0 vs Arizona)
You forgot BYU's first score against Arizona was in the 1st quarter and the Toledo game was 21-7 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Everyone seems to have forgotten Utah St. held Boise St. to 10 points until midway through the 4th quarter before Boise St. scored it's last 2 TDs. BYU will be just fine and will hold BSU to 10 point while putting up at least 24 points.

BYU 31 - Boise St. 10

I also predicted BYU would go at least 8-4 with the possibility of a 9-3 or better season.

Well there you have it.

(I'm predicting a win, but by 1 point 7-6 BYU)

Utah State has a much better defense than BYU does.

In fact, most Div 1AA teams have held mutual opponents defensively as well as or better than BYU has.

Hans Olsen will help carry the alumni flags Thursday. Think this warms him back up to the program somewhat? He has been better this season with Kalani's staff than the last couple years.

Where do you get that?? Here are the stats:

Scoring Defense:
USU #51 (25 ppg)
BYU #52 (25.1 ppg)

Rush Yards Per Attempt:
BYU #23 (3.5 ypa)
USU #42 (3.9 ypa)

Rushing Defense
BYU #29 (131.1 ypg)
USU #66 (157.8 ypg)

Passing Efficiency Defense
BYU #96 (139.82)
USU #97 (140.11)

And the one stat that gives context to all the others?

Strength of Schedule (Sagarin):
BYU #39
USU #84

At best, USU is a statistical tie with BYU on Scoring Defense and Pass Efficiency Defense, but lags in the rush defense.....and all that against a much, much, weaker schedule.

No, BYU's first score against Arizona was 5 minutes into the 2nd quarter and it was 21-14 after one against Toledo.

I like your score though.

While I generally don't question Hawk much ... this time I had to say "huh?" I'm glad Sno stepped in with facts though! (C'mon Hawk ... I was waiting for "TIC", did your keyboard breakdown? :bug: )
